The amount that Semantic Error reminds me of My Gear and You Gown is actually amazing.
Because it's got that same story and relationship that could go either way depending on how it's handled. That same extrovert and introvert dynamic where the Only Right Solution is for the extrovert to teach the introvert to be 'less' of an introvert.
Itt and Pai has this exact dynamic during university, where Itt was constantly pushing for Pai to be more extroverted and to fit his idea of what 'better' looked like and they really only vaguely addressed it in one conversation and that was just barely.
And I'm seeing the same thing with Jaeyoung and Sangwoo. Of course Sangwoo is 'wrong' because he's not interested in the kind of friendship Jaeyoung is offering and of course Jaeyoung just has to go back to 'being himself' and not change because he's in the 'right'.
Itt and Jaeyoung both rely on a teasing form of bullying to push the person they like into situations they're uncomfortable with and don't relent because they're sure that what they're doing it right.
Jaeyoung is acting a bit less actively than Itt did but that's also because their relationship is different than Itt and Pai's.
Itt wanted to see Pai share his abilities with more people and be more of an extrovert like him. Jaeyoung wants to see Sangwoo being more open about his feelings, more open to change and more impulsive... like him. Because they both want to be liked back in ways they're familiar with.
Pai and Sangwoo just wanted to be left alone to their introverted devices and to be let to be successful as they are.
Itt and Pai were just... generally unsatisfying but that describes the entire Show.
Jaeyoung and Sangwoo have a chance to be better. Fingers crossed for their dynamic!
