As a baby she was very sick with acute radiation sickness and wasn’t expected to survive at all. She was saved by Thomas Rush who saw value in at least trying to saving her life. She got better.

As a result she was still sick from the effects of the radiation poisoning as a young child but is mostly recovered by New Dawn.

Story:

Sam is the daughter of Hannah Lewis and Joseph Seed. Born in 2019, in Dutch’s bunker, at her birth, Joseph had a vision and forced Hannah to send their daughter away to live with her family. Unfortunately, by the time she and her deliverer reached Queens, they were sick with radiation poisoning and her grandparents had in fact died in the blast. Rush’s group (which included her aunt Janine) found them in time, learned of her heritage from the dying messenger, and Rush was the only one who believed she could pull through and took her in with her aunt, essentially raising her, underground and overground, especially after her aunt Janine died when she was 9 and continuing to teach her to help rebuilt America. She was an admittedly troublesome child, mainly due to her falling in with a troublemaker group and eventually dating their leader Harry at 12. But at 13 she sobered up after a talking too by Thomas and reevaluated herself. at 14 she became the youngest ever security Captain. When she was 16, they were on their way through Hope County and were asked by Carmina Rye to help out, thus kickstarting the events of New Dawn.
