Sebland Moulin Rouge au. That is all. *walks away*

*paces back, pursued by demons* okay but also what if Moulin Rouge-esque emotions invoked by a canon situation What If we got a scenario where we could really explore Seb's espionage skillset from Poisoned Vow and so we have:

Spy Seb AU.

When Dion loses the throne, he realizes he's going to need somebody keeping an eye on the Empress's movements, so he, Terence, and Seb hatch a scheme where they publicly acrimoniously dismiss Seb from the Order and Seb goes to the Empress's side pretending to be a scorned defector, and he effectively serves as a double agent for the Order, feeding Anabella just enough information to keep her trust while sharing intelligence back to Dion and Terence.

Roland isn't privy to any of this and just knows that his coworker who he got stabbed for and who bedeviled him in a way that he found strangely pleasant is gone and Dion and Terence can't safely tell him why and he just thinks about Seb every single day very normally and then they meet again years later and Seb is unrecognizable to him (and also trying to seduce him due to a case of mistaken identity at a masquerade ball. The rest of the plot is largely a means to an end of this parenthetical) but Roland is still down atrocious for him even though he believes him to be in the Empress's camp and then I have some ideas for how the whole thing culminates but I might actually write this at some point so I will save it but in short I have Yet Another Excuse to make Roland Picard be forlorn and miserable and adorable and flustered and scandalized. Yippeeeee!!!!
