seattlechildrens “The joyful sound of caroling echoed through the hospital halls and Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic thanks to two very special visitors, @Ciara alongside her and @dangerusswilson’s new music artist @deandre408. They handed out toys and gift cards to patients and families and delighted them with classic holiday songs.
.
“I’m so grateful we got to come and sing for you all today,” Ciara said. “We believe in you and we’re rooting for you,” she added.
.
In the hospital playroom, patients and families were overjoyed with some singing along at the top of their lungs with huge smiles, and others happily dancing.
.
“It was such a special gift,” Brooke said. She smiled at her 6-month-old son, Tristan, as his father held him and rocked him to the music. Their current stay at the hospital has been about 3 months.
.
Tristan was all smiles as Ciara and DeAndre sang. It was a welcome reprieve.
.
Walking through the halls of the inpatient units, Ciara and DeAndre stopped to sing songs to patients and families.
.
When 10-year-old Sierra saw Ciara, her face lit up with joy.
.
“Sierra loves music,” her mom said. “It was heartwarming to see Ciara and hear her beautiful music. It really brightened Sierra’s day.”
.
Sierra and her mom moved to Seattle from North Pole, Alaska more than 3 years ago. Now, they call Seattle Children’s their second home.
.
After caroling at the hospital, Ciara and DeAndre traveled across town to OBCC, a community clinic of Seattle Children’s located in the Central District, where they handed out @Amazon Fire HD 8s, gift cards and toys. They then sang carols for all the families, with one little girl sitting on Ciara’s lap, a big smile on her face as she swayed to the music.
.
One-year-old Amir was beaming as Ciara held him in her arms.
.
“She stole his heart,” his mom said.
.
When she was a little girl, she had been a patient at OBCC. She said the neighborhood clinic is like family. She loves that her son is a patient and will grow up around the same providers who cared for her.
.
“It’s wonderful to have Ciara interact with the kids and share her love with the community. It’s great to have her here and a part of our family,” she said.”
