I just realized mermaid..  the word is sea -maid.. after seen the merman pictures.. i mean in spanish the name is sirena, so it is a word unrelated to the meaning, actually a  male sirena would be a triton.. I think im not sure.. the words we use in spanish are related to  greek mytsh that actually are not equal  to  christensen “sirenas”,i mean  it kinda makes more sense to have a word like mermaid ,but i mean.. mardoncella sounds so weird , marcriada doesnt make anysense.. it actually sounds like malcriada , bad raised

FEATURE II: Melanie Maddox

I'm proud to introduce our second featured Seaqueen: Melanie Maddox. Melanie is one of our more recent additions to the community but I have very much enjoyed our exchanges and getting to know her so far, and am excited to learn more! So without further ado...over to Melanie...

BACKGROUND

'Hi y'all my name is Melanie Maddox, but everyone calls me Mel. I live in Marietta, GA which is a northwest suburb of Atlanta, U.S.A. I am probably the oldest Sea Queen as I celebrated my 50th (shh!) birthday back in July. I am a mom to Kyleigh my one and only who is a gifted singer and actor. I am a self proclaimed caffeine and exercise addict. In 17 months I have lost 166 lbs. I now plan to become a certified trainer so I can help others get healthy. I am a lyricist and I also write fiction. I want to learn guitar so I can finally put music to my lyrics.

FAVOURITE ARTISTS & MUSICAL INFLUENCES

My musical influences are interesting because I have a sister who is 11 years older than me. I grew up listening to The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Moody Blues, and The Monkees. Yep, I remember Woodstock. I love the rock bands of the 80's and 90's. My favorite bands are REO Speedwagon, Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam, and Matchbox Twenty. Currently my musical obsessions, yes they are obsessions, are Sam Smith, Hozier, Damien Rice, Scott Matthews, and this really superb English singer/songwriter named Michael Kilbey. Was that ok Michael? Is the check in the mail?

Seriously, I love Michael's music. My favorite is "You Love Her" It literally made me cry the 1st time I heard it. It has so much raw emotion. On the flip side I love "Survive or Surrender" which to me has a cool 80's rock vibe to it. I think Michael has amazing talent and I am glad I am along on his magical, meteoric journey.

WHAT BEING A SEAQUEEN MEANS TO ME:

I joined the SeaQueens because I want to support Michael. I didn't know I would be meeting such an amazing group of women. They have cheered me up, cheered me on, and offered me another "family". I hope one day I will get a chance to meet them all. Those in the UK I may have a chance this spring. I hope to also meet Michael and hear him in person. Fingers crossed.'
