Mars didn't know why he subjected himself to this sort of torture. Was he talking about the movies, or them? He didn't know. Him and Venus met in college, both astronomy majors. She wanted to write romance too, but these days mostly watched it on the silver screen leaning on her boyfriend Mercury. After exiting the theater (some modern reproduction of Romeo and Juliet which Mercury and Venus liked but Mars thought was absolutely atrocious), Venus caught sight of a quite sullen Mars and let out an unearthly squeal. “Mar-mar! I haven't seen you in FOREVER! How's life? How's it been? I didn't know you like this kind of film!” Mercury just waved at him, obviously smitten with the energetic girl on his arm. Mars just froze at the sudden recognition and tried to think of something clever to say, but only came up with “War movies.” Shiiiit. And then, Venus did that thing she did when she was confused where she tilts her head a little and presses her lips together and Mars just melted. “I mean, I like war movies better,” Mars corrected. “Oh, Okay! Hey, me and Merc are gonna go share a strawberry bowl at Stellar Ice Cream! Want to join us?” He tried to say no, he really did, he didn't feel like putting himself through all that. But instead of a “Sorry, can't. Just had some work done on my teeth.” he heard himself say “Sure, I'll meet you there.” And watched as the love of his like kissed the other man on the cheek and went practically skipping out of the movie theater.
