It's another #SDCCMasquerade entry!! This is "King of the Force" from 2015, a Star Wars/Newsies parody. The absolute craziest thing that happened with this entry was that there was an ACTUAL NEWSIE from the ACTUAL MOVIE in the audience that night, and he recorded the skit on his phone and posted it to FB and other Newsies commented on it!! We somehow figured it out backstage while we were waiting for awards and I think we might have been more excited about that than the four awards we eventually won! #fallforcostume Day 39, Masquerade! @shorttrooper @spccadet1

Let's get some #cosplay process pictures going! For #SDCC this year I made two Daenerys costumes for our Masquerade entry, and I needed boots to go with her Dothraki outfit. I already had a great pair of boots as a base (originally purchased for my Annie paintball costume from Community) but the buckles and laces needed to be covered up. I found a great free spats pattern online from @simplicity_creative_group and made it from leather scraps left over from my Dany skirt, with a cotton backing for extra stability. They close with snap tape; I needed to remove them during a quick change in the skit. Once they were completed, they got a quick round of distressing with spray paint and dry brushing along the edges of the leather strips. Still in shock. @noheidionlyzuul and I won best in show last night at the @sandiegocomicconinternational masquerade. It was such an honor to be able to perform on that stage!!!
