Reposted from @senatormyrie "This morning, I joined my colleagues @repyvetteclarke, @repjeffries, @thereallatricewalker, and @alicka_ampry_samuel41 for a press conference on the epidemic of police brutality and the violent assault on a peaceful protester. On Friday, I was out in solidarity and to keep peace with many of those protesting at Barclays Center. I was wearing a bright, neon green shirt with my name emblazoned on the back in order to de-escalate. Our peacemaking was instead met with pepper spray. I had the benefit of the title that allowed me not to be processed but this young woman had no such luxury. She was manhandled, hospitalized, and brutalized by rogue officers that had no business on this course. We’re always told it’s the bad apples but bad apples ruin the whole bunch. We’re forced to eat that apple pie in Black communities, and people are shocked that we’re tired of being poisoned. Today, we’re saying enough is enough. Officer Vincent J. D'Andraia must be fired and Deputy Inspector Craig Edelman must be removed. There must be accountability because without that, there will be no trust." #SD20 #NYC #PressConference #nypd #nypdfinest #senatormyrie #makeitknown #blacklivesmatter #canadasshametoo #racism #womeninleadership #WomenInWeed #cannabis #canadiancannabiscommunity #cannabiscommunity https://www.instagram.com/p/CBBEpZpBmuJ/?igshid=aazmviej8aiu
