Semi-Charmed Summer 2015 Book Challenge
I decided to join in for the Semi-Charmed Book Challenge!
This challenge is run by Megan from the blog Semi Charmed Kind of Life.
You can view the full set of rules at the link, but basically:
The challenge will run from May 1, 2015, to August 31, 2015. Each book has to be at least 200 pages and you can only re-read a maximum of three books.
There are a set of categories to complete and earn points (with a maximum of 200 points). Did I mention that I love point systems?
I want to make a preliminary list, but there are some challenges I can’t fit any books into, so maybe someone can help me?
Here it goes:
I’m giving myself more than one option for some categories, but I know that I don’t have to read all of them to complete the challenge. In fact, only one of these will count towards points, even if I read all of them.
5 points: Freebie! Read any book that fits the general rules.
So basically any book with over 200 pages that I start after May 1st.
10 points: Read a book you have never heard of before. (Just go to a shelf and pick a book based on the cover, the title, whatever you want!)
The Blemished (won on the YA Spring Fling giveaway, never heard of it before)
10 points: Read a book that has been on your TBR list for at least two years. (If you've had a Goodreads account for 2+ years, this will be easy to figure out. If you don’t, do your best to pick a book you’re pretty sure you’ve been wanting to read for years.)
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
10 points: Read a book that won a Goodreads “Best Book” award in 2014.
The Martian All The Light We Cannot See
15 points: Read a book by an author who is completely new to you.
15 points: Read a book by an author you have read before. (No re-reads for this one.)
Clockwork Prince
15 points: Read a book with "light" or "dark" in the title. (Or "lightness" or "darkness.”)
Darkness of Light All The Light We Cannot See Dark Genesis A Darker Shade of Magic The Darkest Part of the Forest Dark Places
20 points: Read a book with the name of a city, state or country in the title.
20 points: Read a book with an animal on the cover.
The Raven Boys
25 points: Read a book that is part of a series with at least four books.
25 points: Read a book that is longer than 500 pages long. — Submitted by winter finisher Kristen from See You in a Porridge.
The Well of Ascension
30 points: Read a book with an alliterative title. (All words in the title must begin with the same letter; no exceptions for articles or prepositions. Examples: Gone Girl or Nicholas Nickleby. Yes, this is tough, which is why it's worth the most points!)
Miss Mayhem
Help me out guys! Do you have any recommendations for the categories I left blank? Or even for the ones I didn’t - maybe you have a really awesome book that you love that fits with them?
I love getting book recommendations and trading cards on challenges like these, so feel free to chat with me about it if you join the challenge!
