Kate loved New York city more than any place in the world. She was a born and bred New Yorker, and was almost certain she could never give it up. However, when the sun was beating down, the pavement heating up could make it feel like hell on earth. It usually wasn’t a big problem, until Kate’s air-conditioning broke. She spent about an hour trying to fix it, until she determined that she only broke it far further. She finally gave up, and cursed and crumpled up the manual, throwing it out the window- not really thinking on it until she heard someone shout. She peered out the window and frowned apologetically. “Oh, er, sorry…” she replied awkwardly to the person who she had inadvertently struck with the crumple of useless instructions. She realized now that perhaps throwing things out the window was not the best choice of action to express frustration.
