Turns out we're doing Script Frenzy again, yay! (I decided to enter playwriting contest and I have to write 50 pages in 15 days -- or 3.3 pages a day. Sound familiar...?)

One Thousand Words
Today's excuse to avoid actual writing that I may get paid for at some point...
A picture is worth, or so they say. I did the math on this recently for an average feature film length of 88 minutes, and it comes to, wait for it, 126,720,000 words to describe a movie, if you were to take each frame separately. Ā 24 frames per second, or fps, and you can do the rest of the math yourself.
The phrase comes from journalism, and if Mrs. Meiners taught me anything, itās thatā¦

ScriptFrenzy - 2017 - Day 9
I wrote yesterday, I just decided not to update the blog. Iām up over 10K. Not focusing on the humor and instead focusing on the characters and story has made writing flow. The screenplay, however, still isnāt funny. Iām not worried. Itās more important to have a good story than a funny story. Iām working on a good story. My characters are going their own way and one of the protagonists is being subverted. It wasnāt a story thread I was planning on following, but it is becoming an important one. Characters need character. Itās the characteristic that makes them unique, makes them standout, and most important, makes them memorable. A character you quickly forget isnāt needed in your story. If you can edit out all of a characterās occurrences from your script or novel, they are superfluous. You could have a throwaway character that you use as a distraction, to divert attention. Thatās fine. They become memorable because the reader thinks, āI thought that character was going toā¦ā A character that you make the reader believe is the murderer in a mystery is useful. Itās the sleight of hand of a magician. They become memorable because of the diversion. They arenāt useless. Every other character that isnāt memorable is useless. Cut them out, or better yet, put them in the āfuture ideasā file. You do have a file of future ideas and potential characters, donāt you? Donāt you? You should. There are interesting characters all around you. Every person has something interesting, be it speech, appearance, or behavior. Take notes. Observe. File away what you find for future use in your writing. Go to the mall. Observe at a restaurant or grocery store. Note the person that pays with pennies. Or the old guy that asks everyone if they know where the pawn shop is. Note the kid that refuses to talk to the giant pink whale-costumed person outside the store. They are all story fodder. There are no boring people. The most boring person in the world, is interesting because they are the most boring person. That removes them from the list of boring people. The second most boring person in the world becomes the most boring person as a result. That makes them interesting⦠Observe. Watch. Note. Donāt stalk.

Unfortunately, Script Frenzy is no longer in operation. Thank you for calling this issue to my attention; I have removed the links from our page. (Also reminded me to update the info and add myself as a mod!)

Hermione Granger and The Half Blood Prince
So - I realise I am supposed to be writing it for ScriptFrenzy 2015, but - as I said - I am a wowdy wiotous webel who started it a week ago, and I am already halfway to my total (100 pages) and just about to reach the end of Act 2 (out of 5, plus a Teaser and Coda).
Which is kind of making me wonder what I am going to do in April itself.Ā
I could write Christmas in Sunnydale (Part 3 of the Holiday From Hell Trilogy) or maybe the MIB Movie (although I do kind of want to do that as a proper story, rather than a screenplay).
Well - I have 6 days to figure it out, and who knows - by then I might be done with HG&THBP so I will have more time to figure it out.
(Aside from the Easter weekend, when I am going to see my lady love!)
Oh yes, Ā I am a rebel
So on Sunday I startedĀ āHermione Granger and The Half Blood Princeā. I realise that, since I am doing it for ScriptFrenzy 2015 I shouldnāt start until April, but then you have to balance that with the fact SF15 is entirely unofficial and exists only in my head, so I can - in fact - pretty much do it whenever I want.
And if the target is a 100 page screenplay (based on A4 pages) then in the six hours I did of writing, I got to 1/5th of the target (23 pages).
Admittedly, the entire first act is mostly plot exposition (explaining the world of Sophie Prince) but I really could not think of another way of doing it.
But once the first act comes to an end, there will be more drama and comedy and stuff.
In theory.
Anyway - itās going quite well
Script Frenzy 2015
I think I have figured out the story I want to write for this - the second in the series that started with "Hermione Granger and The Power He Knows Not", provisionally titled "Hermione Granger and The Half Blood Prince".
Hermione is in the summer before her final year at St Trinian's, and plans on spending it doing not a great deal and relaxing with her girlfriend.
However she gets a call from Polly Riley, who is a "consultant" to The Mason Family, and finds herself, as well as some of her friends from Hogwarts, dragged in to the world of organised crime.
I mostly know the plot, but just need to flesh it out a bit.
(I am contemplating calling the series "The Rods Of The Five Wizards" as that will be the running theme. My only problem is I know who two of the five are, and need to work out who the other two would be).
