Ok, but what is screen chemistry??
Every time I come to tumblr I keep reading about the amazing chemistry between Emily and Stephen, what takes some of the arrow fandom (including me) to ship Olicity and the lack of it between Katie and Stephen, what takes some of us to not ship Lauliver. And for me is the same, their scenes are how they supposed to be, Lauliver/Olicity scenes are perfect the way they are, for me is not about who has better chemistry with, is just about characters bonding, about what I see, not what I think is there. I don't ship Olicity because they hug, or if they talk, or if they hold hands, or if they stare at each other for 10 seconds or an hour, and even if I like this things this is not everything for me. I dont know if this make sense, in my mind it does. Lol.
How do you see the chemistry?? How can you do that? How can you see chemistry just in Olicity's scenes but not in Laulivers? I love reading about it, it amazes me how ppl can see what I can not. And the same happens with others couples from others shows I watch. Because for me, actors portray their character how they supposed to portray them, even if I like or dislike the characters, maybe that is what we supposed to feel.
I'm what every one here sometimes call "the normal viewer", I only see what is on my screen without over analizing things (looks, hugs, conversations) and realized things when they happen or when characters talk about it. So when I have time I come to tumblr and then I find some of those long post about the meaning of something I didn't see as important, I am like "Really? I didn't see it that way." but I end findig it has a lot of truth in it, sometimes I agree with what was written, sometimes I don't, but either way I like what I read.
For me is more like, writers (in every show) do this things intentionally, most of the time. Furthermore, they are actors so they know how to portray their characters better than anyone. Yeah I know in Arrow we were supposed to be crazy in love with Laurel and Oliver but then Felicity was introduced and everyone started to love her, a problem for Arrow writers they didn't expect, and now they are dealing with it, exploring, exploring sounds so much better, so now they are exploring it.
Well, the thing is that everytime I come for more information about the show, I keep finding this post about chemistry, as chemistry is subjective, I guess I have to say I see chemistry in every character from every show, just because some characters stare at each other more than others doesn't mean the actors don't have chemistry, is more, at least for me, what these characters feel. Is not like Emily is going to close her eyes everytime Stephen is right in front of her. I mean, they have a lot of scenes together, of course they have to look at each other, not all looks have the same meaning or how are they going to work? Oh I'm feeling like I'm atacking my own fandom, I'm trying not to make it feel that way because I'm not doing it. Sorry.
So, yeah screen chemistry is weird.
