Left Photo, Right Writing Classic
A classic two-page spread works because the two sides do different jobs.
The left page can hold the visual evidence: photos, scraps, tape corners, and scene fragments. The right page can hold the interpretation: what you noticed, what changed, and what the image does not explain by itself.
Protect the fold
Leave gutter safety around the center fold. Keep photo edges, captions, and writing starts away from the spine so nothing important gets swallowed when the notebook bends.
Use the left page for 2 to 4 photos or scraps. Use the right page for one clear writing column with steady line rhythm and a little breathing room near the fold.
Evidence first, meaning second.
This layout is simple, but it is not basic. It gives the reader a clean sequence: look first, then read.
