#98: Scoutrek- Scoutrek is a common forest Pokémon that hibernates for most of the year, only emerging from its sleep for three months in the fall so that its orange and yellow leaf-like spines help it camouflage into the fallen leaves. In those months, Scoutrek displays its savage nature. It devours thousands of bug-types every day and has to eat every five minutes to sustain its very high metabolism. Scoutrek can eat entire colonies of smaller Pokémon within just a few minutes. It even tries to take down larger Pokémon than it by biting their ankles or latching onto their faces. This carnivore has needle-sharp teeth and powerful claws that it uses to dig burrows and vast tunnel systems. (Name from “scout”, “trek”, and “tenrec”)
#99: Terraquil- Evolves from Scoutrek at level 32. Terraquil is far more aggressive than its pre-evolution, Scoutrek. It will happily eat any Pokémon small enough to fit into its mouth, and whenever it spots a large Pokémon it bristles out its spines. These spines are made of hardened, sharp leaves, not dissimilar to very large pine needles. Unlike Scoutrek, this aggressive Pokémon never hibernates. Instead, it wanders around throughout every season, picking at carrion in the winter and hunting live food whenever it can. Seeing Terraquil fighting with Linoone or Whiskid isn’t uncommon. Though they are far more dangerous than almost any other forest Pokémon, Terraquil and Scoutrek are often mistaken for cute, friendly normal types by unfortunate hikers. (Name from “terra”, Latin for “earth”, and “quill”)
