Probably just Scott and Tommy. I’m not a throuple/threesome reader or writer so Kip (or Buck)wouldn’t be part of it. Plus I adore BT so I wouldn’t have Buck be any part of the narrative because he and Tommy would have to be heartbroken/hurt first which I don’t want lol.

But, if I think of it like the ‘5 fun facts’ game (which I love) then maybe something like this:

1. Scott is the same as in HR—closeted and afraid of coming out. The team are in L.A for a game and the night before the team want to go out and have fun and he knows ‘have fun’ means find some local female fans to sleep with (aside from the players who are married) and he’s obviously not interested and makes his excuses to stay in his hotel room for the night. A fire breaks out on an upper floor and the hotel gets evacuated.

2. Tommy, though out, doesn’t advertise his sexuality, especially while he’s working. The 217 is called to help with the hotel evacuation and he spots Scott at the evacuation point in the parking lot across from the hotel. He recognises Scott immediately because he’s a huge hockey fan. He’s from LA—he’s met famous people before but Scott is the hottest man on the New York Admirals team and Tommy can’t help but want to go over and tell him how hot much of a fan he is. Scott is immediately taken by the hot, built, sweaty and ash covered firefighter with the incredible blue eyes and a cleft he wants to put his pinky into. Or his tongue. With a suddenly dry mouth he thanks “Firefighter Kinard. Uh.. Tommy” for being a fan and surprises himself by offering him seats to the game tomorrow night. Tommy makes a joke about sitting on the enemies side of the ice and Scott is sure (mostly, maybe) he’s flirting by the narrowed eyes and half smirk to the man’s lips. He finds himself offering to take Tommy out for dinner after the game “to thank you for coming to my- uh, the hotels rescue.” and just about manages not to collapse when the hot firefighter agrees.

3. They exchange numbers and Tommy texts him before the game with “if I was an Admirals fan I’d wish you good luck.” And Scott responds with “I guess I’ll have to work harder to impress you then.” and Tommy feels an embarrassing teenage-like giddy feeling. Scott almost single handedly annihilates the opposing team scoring more goals in a single game than he’s done in seasons. And Tommy is impressed (not enough to change the team he supports, though).

4. After the game while Scott is showering and thinking about seeing Tommy again it suddenly hits him that he’d been so caught up in the hot firefighter that he hadn’t realised asking the man to dinner meant them actually having dinner. In public. Where they could seen. Or photographed. He texts Tommy and asks if he knows any ‘private’ local places they could have dinner. Tommy isn’t an idiot and understands the unspoken words behind the text and before his brain registers what his thumbs are doing he’s sending his address to Scott fucking Hunter.

5. Tommy was sure he’d see a record for how quick he could pick up his house—throwing all dishes (unrinsed!) straight into the dishwasher, hastily wiping down surfaces, quickly changing his bedding (wishful thinking but hey he’s trying the whole optimism thing these days) and throws every other random thing that would take to long to put away into the hall closet and hopes that Scott isn’t a snooper. He only had 5 minutes to freak out before there’s a knock on the door. There’s heated tension on the air the second Scott’s steps over the threshold and although Scott might not be brave enough to come out yet, he is trying this new thing where he doesn’t hide what he wants.

“Do you want the full tour now, or-“ Tommy speaks walking down the corridor towards the kitchen but stops when he realises Scott isn’t behind him. He turns and was sure his eyes and tongue fell out of his head like a cartoon character at the sight to Scott Hunter, standing in his hallway, shirtless and undoing his belt, looking directly at Tommy.

“I pick or.”

Tommy was grateful he’d upgraded his front door a few months back and opted for a sturdier one because the force he pushed Scott into it would have had him flying through the old one. All Scott could feel was Tommys hot wet tongue deftly exploring his mouth and rolling and curling under and around his own tongue.

Tommy had learned his lesson (more times than he’d admit) getting involved with closeted men and he was almost certain this would end badly, especially given who Scott was. But his blood became hot and tingly from the moment he laid eyes on Scott yesterday and hadn’t stopped since. It would probably blow up in his face (again) but fuck it! Scott was worth the risk.

+1: A few years later, dressed in their finest, Tommy sits at the table adorned with flowers, looking up at his new husband giving his speech and laughs at the boos and cries of “traitor!” from some of the hockey players in attendance when Scott tells the story of the first time Tommy had watched Scott play and watched from the Admirals seats instead of the L.A Kings.
