Hi, ashscotty anon again! Saw your response and SAME, ed 2 is iconic but I just enjoy the first movie's cast more compared to the sequels'/aved's. I'm also surprised they don't have more content since the two are the most fleshed out in the first movie tbh with their screentime (even if that's including scotty abandoning ash lol) and it seems prevalent enough that even the musical arguably has an entire ashscotty song with "wtf was that". And an essay you say?👀 may I see it?

THOSE WERE MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY omg the musical was the second piece of ed media i ever consumed and in BOTH ed 1 and the musical ash and scotty just have SO MUCH CHEMISTRY. theyre both rlly fleshed out characters with the most one-on-one interaction!!! i think its so fascinating. i was watching the movie with my bf and i vividly remember him saying ‘oh these 2 are cute’ like halfway through the cellar scene lol

as for the essay, i dont think ill be posting it in full, but you can read the good parts here!! a tldr of it all is that i think a lot of scott’s actions can be explained (albeit not defended) if you view his character through a queer lens. honestly a lot of his selfish tendencies just come off as jealousy to me
