Announcement! At the end of this month (26th and 27th August) I’m working with VisitScotland on the ultimate #Outlander campaign - visiting all of the filming locations in one weekend! 6 of Scotland’s top bloggers including myself will split up and take in over 30 Outlander and Jacobite-related sites all over the country - simulataneously united by the hashtag #Scotlanders. You can follow along across social media - visit my site at travelswithakilt.com to find my various channels on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and more.
In the meantime, I’ll be posting lots of Outlander posts in the build up and would love to hear your favourite filming locations from seasons 1 and 2 of the show!
Day 1 of the #Outlander marathon ends at the Highland Folk Museum! Couple of resident guests even came out to say hello #Scotlanders
Another #Scotlanders highlight from this weekend - the fabulous Drummond Gardens in Perthshire. Appearing in season 2 of #Outlander this place doubled as Versailles - the spot of the dreaded second meeting of Jamie and Jack. It’s been an epic weekend of images and I’ll be sharing more from our marathon in the days and weeks to come but thanks to all for following along and see the full stories of all locations over on Twitter and Instagram:

Next up in my #Outlander countdown this week - the magnificent Glasgow Cathedral! Just about all that’s left of medieval Glasgow, the interior was used to double as the French hospital where Claire worked her magic in season 2.
Remember this weekend sees me and my blogging companions hit every filming location in Scotland in just 36 hours! Follow along here but also on Instagram and Twitter (links below) all weekend using the hashtag #Scotlanders

As the countdown commences to our #Outlander campaign next weekend, I’ll post a photo a day from some of the sites on our hit list. This is the one and only Glen Coe, used in the opening credits. Full of Highland mystery and melancholy, it’s going to be one of my favourites for sure! Who has been here?
Another of the grand mansions used in Outlander filming, Hopetoun House on the outskirts of Edinburgh doubled as the home of Duke of Sandringham. It’s lavish interior makes it fully palatial and was another great spot from the Outlander crew. This, and many more, will be on our agenda this weekend when the #Scotlanders look to take on every #Outlander filming location in 36 hours!
