WEEK 14: A weekend backpacking trip to the channel islands. Started off on a boat ride to Prisoner's Bay then a 7 miles hike to the first campsite. Then tackled an additional 14 miles to Scorpion Ranch for the second campsite. It's nice to be away from civilization and technology. #Globe_master #Travelz0ne #52hikechallenge #52hikechallenge2016 #pullforadventure #channelislands #prisonersbay #scorpionranch (at Santa Cruz Island)
Santa Cruz Island and boat ride from Ventura, CA. Visited on February 2016.
To get into Santa Cruz Island, we booked with Island Packers to get on a ferry and reserve a kayak tour. Scorpion Anchorage Pier was damaged so we took a skiff onto the beach. The weather was cloudy with a bit of sprinkles here and there but the boat ride, kayak and hike was still beautiful. Erin was our kayak tour guide and he was so much fun and very informative. We kayaked under caves and through caves, some even narrow and dangerous. Oh and that blow hole got us wet! The kayak trip was awesome and hike up was refreshing in the rain! Thank you Island Packers for a good post Birthday celebration!
