September is National Literacy Month, and to celebrate, Lionsgate and Scholastic are teaming up with Scribd and Donors Choose to mark a special Hunger Games National Literacy Month campaign.
As part of their partnership, fans can now read and share both chapter one and chapter two for free through a Scribd application. (Previously, only chapter one was available through this feature). The chapters can be read on Facebook and shared through Facebook, Twitter or Scribd.
It's all part of a joint effort between Lionsgate, Scholastic and Scribd to promote reading during national Literacy Month.
Additionally, the three companies have teamed with Donors Choose for a unique sweepstakes called "Read a Chapter, Win a Library." Throughout September, any fan that reads The Hunger Games in the Scribd social reader application will be entered for a chance to win a classroom library of books for the public school of their choice that is served by Donors Choose.
"People who read The Hunger Games adopt a must see attitude to the film," said Lionsgate Chief Marketing Officer Tim Palen. "The story is so gripping and urgent that fans of the book literally can’t wait to see it translated to the big screen. We are so lucky to have the partners we do at Scholastic, who have recognized from the beginning how momentous the synergy between the book and movie could be.
