So reading through your posts does make me wonder whether you ship Sci-pie or not.
Ahhh you caught me, anon ๐ญ๐ญ
I do ship them. Romantically or platonically, though? I'm not sure. It's quite hard for me to have a black-and-white answer for that because their natural, well-established dynamic can work for both a romantic or platonic ship, and I, for one, don't care if it's either. As long as the writers stay true to their dynamic and the strong bond they have, I'll be satisfied.
If you want my opinion, however, I wouldn't be surprised if the writers change their minds and make them end up together in canon, but I donโt want this writing decision to be made solely because there is romantic attraction or feelings between them. Scipie has shown us that love is not just romantic: it is also familial, platonic, and even unconditional. There are instances in real life where people don't need to have romantic feelings for each other to be in a committed relationship, such as in QPRs and platonic marriages; Scipie would probably be like that if they were to end up together. ย Do I believe it is better for them to simply stay friends in canon? ย Yes. Having them eventually enter an exclusive romantic relationship would undermine the reason why many people, myself included, like Scipie: a boy-girl friendship with their dynamic and so great a non-romantic love for each other is refreshing and unique because it isn't often represented or executed well in media. Even if there are no romantic feelings or attraction involved, it would certainly upset people who aren't open to the idea of them being mutually exclusive, especially if they ship Arin or Sora with somebody else, or strongly believed for the longest time that the writers wouldn't (or shouldnโt) be going in that direction for them.
That is just for the canon side of things, though. In an AU sense, I'll probably be more confident in shipping them in a romantic or QPR way. But even then, that still feels like walking on eggshells. As much as Scipie is precious, they are delicate because of the way their dynamic works. There's something about Scipie that is so undeniably, irrevocably them that fitting them into conventional labels doesn't feel like doing them justice. Ninjago relationships have always been distinct about whether they are romantic, platonic, familial, etc., but Scipie breaks that mold, as if they could and probably are encompassing all, or at least most, of the types of love. Perhaps that is what makes them so refreshing and unique.
(On a side note, just because I post more Scipie stuff than the other new Ninja ships/duos doesn't mean I don't like them. I'm just more drawn to Scipie because, as I said, their dynamic is refreshing and unique โบ๏ธ)
