Being named captain is one of the greatest individual honours an individual can receive. He or she must be accountable after a bad performance or practice. Captains are expected to perform in the clutch and lead the team to victory. It is also expected that captains will maintain control in the most pressurised situations and be the model of excellence for their teammates. Our captain embodies the 3 C’s in leading the team: Caring, Courageous, and Consistent.   He has displayed an undeniable passion for the game, for competing, and put the success of team first. As a courageous captain he has set the benchmark for the rest of the team, embodying our core values, especially during times of adversity. As a consistent captain at @scintillacricketclub he has held himself to a standard of giving 100% effort in every practice and game. You cannot cut corners and earn the respect from teammates and coaches that is necessary to lead the team effectively. Over the course of 21 games this season he has reached 687 runs - The highest in the Division and second in all the Leagues. On top of that he racked up the single individual highest score in the League with 139. The role of the modern day skipper has been likened to a burden and deserves further discussion and appreciation. It is not merely a case of turning up on a Saturday, shouting out the team sheet and organising the field. The captain’s week starts with board discussions followed by individually securing commitments from the starting XI. First on the pitch and last off it.
