Beginning to the end of the first chrous: her as a kid watching her father, a scientist/inventor, admiring his work, even as him and her mom get a divorce, but he one day disappears, abandoned her.
The next verse to the next chrous: she, now grown up, watches her son (the oc) as he slowly dives deeper into his grandfather's old research. He becomes desperate to find out why he disappeared, recreating his work, and repeatibly harming himself physically and mentally in the process. Oc and his mother's relationship strains as she doesn't want to lose lose him to science just like her father.
Bridge plus final chorus: shows her grief and the parallels between her father and son. Their personalities, looks, fascination with science, and them giving up everything for science.
