An expanded data set with an interactive tool that allows you to compare state-level incarceration data for youth and adults, including racial/ethnic disparities and estimates on the impact of felony disenfranchisement.
There’s something very gross about these “foundations” that go to schools get kids to act as free labor by going door to door ,selling their off brand chocolate candies, to only then reward the kids time, labor, with a shitty toy off temu that isn’t worth even 1% of the amount that the company pockets from the profits. I think it’s bullshit that teachers and schools promote this in schools. It’s very on brand for the public school to prison pipeline education system. I will not have my kids be acting as free labor for Helping Hands to sell their dusty ass candy.

#SchoolToPrisonPipeline is REAL especially for #BIPOC(students of color) & NC was the LAST state to stop prosecuting 16 & 17 year olds as adults in 2019. Swipe for TLDR quotes from article & #Donate to @njjnetwork to help. (Accessible text of slides below) TLDR quotes: “‘A 6-year-old cannot comprehend what is taking place in court, but probably will never forget being labeled a delinquent,’ Deberry wrote in an email.” "When a cop picks up a white boy, he takes him to his parents — But if he is black, he takes him to the state." -Mary Stansell, juvenile chief at Wake County Public Defender's Office. From 2015-2018 ~7,300 complaints were filed against children 6-11 years old: 47% against Black children, 40% against white children and 7% against Hispanic/Latino children, according to the state Juvenile Justice section. "This is just proof that we have been criminalized since we're young, since we are little kids, and we have to grow up all our lives like that, with being criminalized and being actively targeted.” -Wake County Black Student Coalition co-founder “Research shows early court involvement increases children's likelihood of dropping out of school, of getting into trouble again, and having long-term court involvement” -Peggy Nicholson, supervising attorney for Duke University's Children's Law Clinic. #BLM #AllBlackLivesMatter #BlackKidsMatter #BlackChildrenMatter #JuvenileJustice #JuvenileDelinquent #JuvenileDeliquency (at North Carolina) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMsfNfNHXtO/?igshid=1lwvwiel77vjx
