In conservative and swing states, teachers, moms and women candidates are taking back local education.
Just a PSA: you do NOT need to be old enough to vote, eligible to vote, nor registered to vote to attend and speak up at your local School Board or City Council meetings!
The media usually focuses on the "big elections" but your school board and city council are often the ones making the big decisions that affect your daily life on a smaller, day to day basis (bathroom policies in schools, anyone?).
The good news is that anyone can speak up at these meetings - grab some friends and stand up for LGBTQ+ youth-supporting policies.

Honestly so done with the Canadian Schoolboard system. My mom's a teacher so I get to hear all about how her school district has banned the mere mention of anything queer because if a teacher dares to, say, correct a child using slurs against gays or trans people, the spineless schoolboard will then get a barrage of phonecalls from angry Christian and Muslim parents who demand justice for their child having to hear about the faggots and trannies at school.
The Canadian government and schoolboards are such cowards, "secular" schools are essentially religious institutions now when it comes to what teachers can and can't say, I sincerely think "Parents rights" should not be considered in nonreligious educational facilities, because this is what capitulating leads to, a bunch of schoolchildren freely throwing around queerphobic slurs and not being corrected for it by teachers, growing up as unchallenged bigots, just like mom and dad.

A question on Praxis
Ok, real world topic time. I know that in this "brave" new world we're all saying to show up to our town councils and school board meetings and this and that but here's the thing. My town is TINY, 1800 people at a stretch. I looked at the agenda and minutes for the last year of both town council and school board and there is not a single thing of consequence in any of it. Either one usually lasts less than 15 minutes, its 4 people in a room who approve the minutes for the last meeting, rubber stamp the budgets for city infrastructure and then leave. I don't really have any problems with how my town is run, either. Our school is famously great, we just got named best elementary and middle in the state for the like the 3rd year running, the garbage gets taken on time and well, the streets are plowed and salted promptly. Like, am I really doing myself or anybody else any good if I show up to four confused old people and tell them I have nothing to add?
