Grian often jokes about not being able to read. What the others don´t know is, that it is in fact the truth! Grian can not read at all. He was to bussy with other things during school to listen and learn how to read. He mostly just fooled around with his friends.
The reason nobody found out is, that he can write just fine. He doesn´t actually know what he is writing there. It´s just a bunch of symbols for him. He only memorized combinations and their meaning and is now putting them on signs and in books when he does in fact need to write something. He has absolutely no idea how to sound the words nor the letters out though.
This is also the reason for the button pushing. He can´t read what they are for, so he presses them to find out.
Any Mail he gets, he just ignores in hopes it´s nothing too important. If he thinks it is important though, he brings it to scar letting him read it and masks it as reading training for his dyslexia.
