Kortijk, BEL January 19, 2014 After grabbing third place last year at Velofollies for riding up the Muur van Geraardsbergen on Tacx rollers we decided to try and compete every year, and so we did this year. Very happy to see Brecht showing up as well! I rode the qualifier in 2:15 and the finale in 2:16 taking second place this year (so hopefully first place and bringing home the bike next year). Brecht rode the qualifier also in 2:15 but lost some valuable seconds in the last meters up the Kapelmuur finishing around 2:20. Happy to see a 2/3 Scheldepeleton podium this early in the season :-) Good investment after all, the FxM podium cap!

It's been a long while since I've updated this thing but I'll be sharing some pictures and stories soon. Here's a picture of our last ride of 2013 finishing up the Rapha Festive 500. A 30 year old Scheldepeleton tradition that still stands, cycling from Ghent to the seaside and back, this time we went all the way up to Cadzand, The Netherlands facing 6 beaufort headwinds and rain, jolly good fun and echolons. Latest picture. Schelde-peleton training on the Memorial ride for Wouter Weylandt on May 9th 2013, after his fatal accident in the Giro of 2011.  We honor Wouter by riding hard and having fun, exactly the way he would have wanted it to be I guess. Schelde peleton 'training' consist of riding a 75km long course stretching along the Flemish Classics course with 3 small hills in the course. Starting and returning is along the Schelde Canal. Here I am pictured pulling the pack just at the top of the 'Trap op' slope chasing a break-away. After this we hit Edelare just outside of Oudenaarde, returning back along the Schelde to Ghent. These training rides have been harder than the avarage races I've competed in. For those interested,  the peleton rides every day. Different route each day of the week, longer rides on weekends, week day morning rides are up and down the Schelde. Starting at the Zwijnaardebrug at 09:15am . There's always a chance to run into several pro's riding along in the pack. In the picture above you can see Kurt Hovelijnck of Crelan-Euphony (green jersey, struggling and showing his teeth ;) ). Other pro's you might run into are Thomas De Gendt (Third place at 2012 Giro after winning on the summit of the Stelvio), supreme track champion and all-round bad-ass Iljo Keisse, female Belgian Champion Jolien D'hoore, Staf Scheirlinckx, ... Come on down, ride hard or be dropped
