DEVELOPMENT OF AN IMPROVED SCHEDULING ALGORITHM FOR MULTICAST SERVICES OVER WiMAX NETWORKS USING PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION TECHNIQUES
Abstract:
The challenge of optimal resource allocation to subscribers ofmobile Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) has not been fully overcome by researchers. This research work developed an optimal scheduling algorithm for WiMAX resource…

In a multiprogramming system, multiple processes exist concurrently in main memory. Each process alternates between using a processor and waiting for some event to occur, such as the completion of an I O operation. The processor or processors are kept busy by executing one process while the others wait. The key to multiprogramming is scheduling. CPU scheduling deals with the problem of deciding which of the processes in the ready queue is to be allocated the CPU. By switching the CPU among processor the operating system can make the computer more productive. Scheduling affectes the performance of the system because it determines which processes will wait and which will progress. In this paper, simulation of various scheduling algorithm First Come First Served FCFS , Round Robin RR , Shortest Process Next SPN and Shortest Remaining Time SRT is done over

The rapid need of wireless demands a great deal of security and reliable routing in order to keep all the data sources and equipments secure. In order to develop efficient and robust protocols, it is essential to understand the inherent characteristics of wireless networks such as connectivity, coverage and varying channel conditions. Wireless LAN introduces the concept that use can connect to any one at any place at anytime by using various mobile appliances that can be carried at any place. Now Communication is no longer limited to a one place by holding wired phones. This is the big boom to the I.T industry but it also brings a lot of opportunities and challenges for the Network Administrator who is looking after the Wireless LANs (WLAN). WLAN traffic travels over radio waves that cannot be constrained by the walls or any

C program for First Come First Served Scheduling, is always one of the most popular scheduling algorithm used for decades. First Come First Served Scheduling is a Non-Preemptive algorithm. In this scheduling, the process request the CPU First , will get the CPU First.A simple FIFO (First In First Out) Queue is used for implementing scheduling algorithm. When the CPU completes the current process,…
