The New Year is already well on its way and my motto is change. I hope I will be able to make many changes in my life and I have successfully started already. As far as the garden is concerned, overall last year was a pretty bad year for my beloved roses. I think, I watered them not enough, I probably fertilized too little, and the horrible infestation of chilly thrips for the first time in my garden last autumn really took it out of the roses and me as their steward. So I made the tough decision to reduce the total number of roses that I have and take the best possible care of the ones remaining, and if the chilli thrips return, probably trying to spray the roses with an organic insecticide. That is a big change for me since so far my garden has been completely no spray. But that is as far as I am willing to go. I will not resort to other types of spraying or systemic treatments that are more harmful to the environment and even if that means that I can’t grow roses in my garden anymore, which admittedly will be super tough for me, so be it! Please wish me luck! What are changes in your garden that you are planning to make this year? By the way, the romantic rose beauty on the photo is Scepter’d Isle, one of my all time favorites! . . . #rose #roses #pink #pinkroses #softcolored #softcoloredroses #romantic #romanticroses #scepterdisle #scepterdislerose #englishrose #davidaustin #davidaustinrose #romanticrose #roselover #roselovers #organic #organicrosecare #organicgardening #organicgardendreams #sandiego #southerncalifornia #california (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsgPzKFFTMS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=10z7apci4du7b
