Natasha Romanoff will forever confuse him. One step forward, two steps back. It’s the dance they do, it’s the confusing game they play whether they’re simply just team mates on just another job, or if they’re both unwilling allies on the run from the rulers of a world that’s crumbling around them.Â
There’s the usual banter between them, a smirk here, a light, playful tough there - they enjoy the little things, it’s all they really have in terms of that little light of hope in the dark days that only seem to be getting worse.Â
There’s the content silence, broken only by Tony’s pleased hum as he rubs his hands  together by a small fire. And then he feels something against his cheek that makes him freeze a little, makes his eyes widen as he turns to see Natasha, a coy smile on her face before she leans back.Â
Well played, Romanoff, well played.
