For the top-of-the-line Scania R730 V8 and S730 V8, the turbocharged 16.4-liter V8 diesel engine comes with EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) producing 720 hp (730 PS; 537 kW) at 1,900 rpm and 2,581 lb.-ft of torque (3,500 Nm) from 1,000-1,400 rpm. It is the second most powerful diesel engine (and its only remaining V8) surpassed by the Volvo FH16 750.
In the Volvo FH16 750, the turbocharged 16.1-liter six-cylinder diesel engine producing 740 hp (750 PS; 550 kW) at 2,000 rpm and 2,618 lb.ft of torque (3,550 Nm) from 1,050-1,400 rpm.
