so a couple years ago, my mom gave me an Elf on the Shelf cookie set and challenged me to make an "unconventional" design using the provided cookie cutter:
pics of what I came up with below the cut. Bonus points if you can guess what it might be ~

Prevalence of "vocal cords" vs "vocal chords" spellings over time
"Vocal cords" is the standard English spelling (in American, UK, and Australian English), but the nonstandard spelling "vocal chords" (with an H) is also pretty commonly used, so I looked up both versions on the Google nGrams viewer to see if/how the spelling trends varied over time

I just found a really interesting article about English common names for birds, which, among other things, featured this wonderful graph categorizing the names of literally all officially recognized bird species:
Fig 1. Counts of descriptor categories of bird common names in English-language per category in the final dataset of 10,906 bird species. Categories are colored by avian physical traits (blue), avian natural history (orange), and human-centered terminology unrelated to the biology of a species (green).
Article link - note that the authors made their whole species name categorization data set available :)

Most Common March Madness Team Names
My work is hosting a data visualization contest for March Madness-related data (for fun/morale, because I think we could all use that right about now lol), so I decided to make some graphs about the team names for all the teams that have ever participated in the tournament. Here's a couple of 'em:
Data source: NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament (Wikipedia)
Note that the above numbers are based on the team names, which usually but don't always align with the team mascot :)
How much Dialogue there is in Spirit of Justice (in Graphs)
