I’ll Take the Stake - Odette, Cian
For authenticity, he should have brought Brooke. Or another cop. Cian sat in a booth at the Emerald Diner, all by his lonesome, and sticking out like a sore thumb. But it was necessary. Cian didn’t want his daughter anywhere near this case, and another cop would just make things more complicated if anything went south. Better was alone, unless he was monitoring someone in a diner. Then it was weird.
The guy he was there to watch was with a woman, a woman he assumed was there for the evening and nothing more judging by the way she was dressed. She wasn’t quite that obvious, for had her dinner partner been dressed in a similar fashion they would look as though they were simply going out on the town to one of the classier nightclubs in the area. As it was, the man she was having dinner with looked like he had just gotten off work after working overtime at his 9-5. Certainly she was a lady of the night.
That was curious. Why bother taking her out to dinner? Based on the reason why Cian was following him in the first place, he supposed it would be so he was seen out with someone.
Cian had his voice recorder set down on the table in front of him, covered by the diner’s menu. He vaguely looked at it while he kept tabs on the man and his... lady friend... across the dining room.
