12. How are they bodily expressive? How do they use nonverbal cues such as their posture, stance, eyes, eyebrows, mouths, and hands?
Cross is almost always slouching. When he does broaden his shoulders to full length, beware, because then he’s a brute. He’s very expressive. His expressions are based on instincts and as such, he usually doesn’t mask surprise or fear or the like until he can get a handle on things. If he goes in prepared for anything, however, he can certainly put on a persona, such as when he’s flirting. His favorite place to look up is up to the left---indicating lies. Most people are too dumb or aren’t aware that this is where people look when they lie, so he rolls with it. He has been caught in a lie this way only a few times, mostly by smart women and by one man. Other than that, as said before, he’s expressive. He doesn’t talk with his hands, really, preferring to stand in one spot and place as he’s talking.
20. What kind of individual relationships do they have with others, and how do they behave in them? How are they different between intimate relationships like friends, family, and lovers versus more impersonal relationships?
Cross doesn’t have many relationships---not personal relationships. The amount of people he fully trusts completely he can count on one hand. He doesn’t even trust beautiful women completely, though he seems to act that way. He can be acquaintances with anyone, friends with few. The rougher he acts in a platonic relationship, the more loving he is. For instance, Allen and Cross---Cross is mean and can be considered abusive in one way. But that’s only because Cross loves him and needs him to wake up and see the truth. Allen would disagree with this, though. In other platonic relationships he may be more gentle, as Allen and Cross is more familial. Other familial relationships, such as the budding father/daughter between Cross and Sera, are also more gentle. Perhaps it’s just because Allen reminds Cross of his late older brother so much. He’s a “player”, through and through, and the number of people he’s “loved” is uncounted for. These are the victims of his empty compliments and promises that he’ll never follow through with. Though the number of people he’s been in love with can also be counted on one hand. These are people he’s genuinely loved, with all of his heart, only for them to pass away in an untimely death (save for one, who very much deserved it, he would like to think).
39. What sort of questions or thoughts recur in their lives, either specifically or as a theme? Why are these never answered, or answered permanently to their satisfaction?
Lots of questions and thoughts go through Cross’s head, intrusive thoughts that haunt his every day being. A few choice ones are: “Why does this need to be done?” “Why can’t he have a happy life?” “Is there a point to this holy war at all?” “Are my debts paid?” “I have not failed yet, but I will.” “I have failed him, I have failed him, I have failed him.” Some may be more serious than others... Although he mentally asks the questions, it’s more of a midlife crisis than anything---though much more serious, pertaining to Nea a lot more than he’d like.
