that screams with every shot fired

that screams hard enough to break the bones of every person who thought that owning a gun and using it would be a fun thing to do to people,

to kids in schools and to the colored

and to women who cower at a man’s touch

and to the poor who have nothing to even hide their indignities

and to elephants and zebras

and giraffes

and chickens and pigs

the voice is not heard,

it is not stifled

but it is not heard.
