#Satkhanda was intended to comprise seven storeys but it’s construction was abandoned by the then #nawab of #lucknow . Incomplete but a splendour of #heritage architecture, Satkhnada, overlooks the #chotaimambara and other heritage wonders of #awadh . Legend says that the it watch-tower was designed to capture the #skyline of old Lucknow and to witness the #crescentmoon of #eid . In typical fashion, the tower fell to ruins because it’s #islamicarchitecture was not worth protecting. After being a rubbish dump and a haven for wild animals, the local community took it on themselves to help save the city’s heritage.
