Hello, I was hoping rather desperately you could refer a fic to me. It is really difficult finding ones that I like because I like ones that are close to canon. No crazy AU scenarios. Like perhaps you know the one called An In Depth Examination? That is pretty much the only one I've ever found that I like. So any that are written in that style that you may know of, I'd appreciate it so very much if you could refer anything. Thank you!
Unfortunately, I haven't actually read A Thorough Examination/In Depth (For those of you who would link to read it, it's linked. MATURE READERS and major warnings for dark!John, very dark themes, smut, and more. Please check the warnings on this, as some of the kinks might not be to your taste at all. Please know that this is a pretty dark fic, and it might not be your cup of tea). Â
In response to your actual request, I've decided to go for fics that are more like "Canon AUs" than anything else. All of these fics fit, to some degree, into a canon world, but they diverge in a significant way, usually through characterization, much in the way A Thorough Examination/In Depth does. Several of these also feature a dark!Sherlock or a dark!John. I hope these recs are to your taste, although I'm afraid I might not be the best judge! At any rate, I hope you enjoy!
