ㅤThe quiet voice was enough to divert his attention from what he'd been reading; desk covered in books and scrolls and notes scribbled in elegant handwriting, as usual. Not just any voice but the one that could have Itachi rising from his own coffin if need be, and let alone when speaking such words. Turning around, he left work and duty behind and opened his arms for his little brother, instead.

«It's all right, I'll go clean it in a moment.»

ㅤWith the child close enough, he caught Sasuke in a tender hold and snuggled him under his chin, bringing a hand up to brush back the spiky hair strands. Then he pulled away a bit, just enough to take a proper look at Sasuke's face and to leave that same hand now on his cheek, to check for a possible fever.

Suigetsu couldn't fight the sharp grin off of his face. "Well~~ 'something' can either mean this or that. It's not my fault you didn't specifiy."

“…” Two seconds in and he was already pissing her off.

“Got the wrong Haruno.” She says lowly, eyes of blue glaring into the Uchiha. “Sakura’s got better things to take care of then you. The hell you thinking about my sister for, anyway?”

There was an edge to her steps now, though they still tapped silently against the pavement. This uneasiness had followed the entire day, a certain gut feeling urging her to the fact she was missing something. Her fingers brushed the palm of her hand, just over the hidden seals she'd carved on the soft skin; a vault to store all the secrecies she'd sworn to keep. That's where the intercepted message – both the original and the painstaking decoding she'd spent days constructing – had been just hours ago, before she'd committed both to memory and decimated them with a pulse of fire. That intel was gone, and nobody but her knew its contents. She'd made sure of it, from interception to destruction.

So, no, Tenten wasn't missing anything. She'd done the recon of the area. She was just nervous, trying to pinpoint her first high-value target, a political outcast, in the middle of Iwa. It was the chance of a lifetime, really, getting a specialized A-Rank as a Chuunin. She just had to play her cards right: find the guy, establish contact, open the doors for better negotiators than her. A road for a career in diplomacy and espionage; better yet, a shortcut for a Jounin promotion, like the one Neji had gotten months prior.

As much as he embodied nonchalance, his aura betrayed him with a sincere seriousness that not even a sharp-toothed grin could conceal.
