Grimm watches as Sarukan sits on the floor of his tent, looking sad - hopeless. He knew Sarukan could feel, unlike his void siblings, but seeing him like this - well it threw him for a loop to say the least.
He walked over to Sarukan sat next to him "What bothers you so?"
"I have a destiny I don't want to fullfil, I life I didn't want. On top of that now I have to kill you? After everything you've done for me!" Sarukan placed his head in his hands, feeling more lost and alone than ever.
Grimm reaches over and gently pulls Sarukan into his lap "Listen to me, and listen well. It doesn't have to be that way. If you can find a way to destroy the heart and not me - the troupe- Grimmchild and I - we could all be free, and you - my beautiful vessel- you could have the family you've been dreaming of."
Sarukan looked up at Grimm a moment before speaking again "How do you know I'll have that after I destroy the heart?" He was genuinely curious how Grimm could know this.
"I remember - seeing you in God Home. How you ended up there so soon with little but those weak nails and no fighting skills I will never know- but I saw you. You were so afraid- and unwilling to fight. All I wanted - was to protect you- to love you, so I sent one of the troupe to erect the lantern, in the hope we'd be summoned and I could find you again. If you can destroy the heart - free us - I'd very much like to be yours. That is- if you'll have me, Sarukan." He watched Sarukan's face as the vessel processed what he'd been told. As Sarukan began to shake, Grimm's own expressed changed to one of worry. "Sarukan?"
"Yes," Sarukan whispers softly
"Yes?" Grimm tilted his head, confused.
"Yes. Yes of course I'll have you! I - this feeling - it's -is it love? Is that what it's called?" Sarukan questioned.
"I do believe it is, my sweet vessel," Grimm whispered before leaning in and placing gentle kisses all over Sarukan's mask. "I love you, Sarukan. Will you say it back?"
"I love you, too Grimm. I love you too."
So while I took the time to process the news I got today, I finished this piece I've been working on for a couple of days.

Sarukan has found a new place and a new family. This is his happy place among the lifeblood flowers and butterflies, and the watchful eyes of the Lifeblood god who now considers Sarukan one of his own.
