Marlene has never managed to get over the feeling of always being in competition with Sirius. Neither of them have ever really managed to have any chill about anything and so something as simple as reaching the top of a staircase could and would become a competition between them. In the light of the war though, that feeling has begun to fade as she is less and less aware of where her friends are and what they’re doing. Sometimes, when she feels particularly lonely, she’ll remember the childish competitions they used to have and for a while, it’s almost like she has him as a friend again.
