Saturday beach getaway in “spooky” Guanabo beach - As our favorite beach close to Havana “Santa Mária” gets (for our taste) uncomfortably crowded on the weekends, we decided to continue our ride on the “collectible taxi” for 1 cuc (from Parque Curita in Central Havana) to its final destination - Guanabo. It’s a sleepy little town, with nothing particularly interesting in it, but maybe that’s its main charm. We had a great lunch for 1 Cuc (1 dollar) in a small place by Main Street that was recommended by locals, then we bought a beer (they had Bucanero!!) and wondered around spooky looking beach that many photographers will find interesting! Guanabo is far from our favorite cuban beach, not even a plan B or C from Santa Maria, and most likely we won’t come back but it’s cool to see it at least once :) Gives you kind of melancholic feeling.
