based on how sansa answers questions in 'got' - how seh carefully tells the truth, but never volounteers information [like when the septa asks her where arya is, for instance, and sansa says that arya 'wasn't hungry' but does not say why, though she knows why - or can make an educated guess BUT knows that to say that, would be 'telling' and would get ehr sister in trouble] + the fact that i remember i read this passage about arya and jon talking about sansa as a 'tattler' = i think sansa aquired this ability never to answer questions with more than EXACTLY what is asked, because she used to do just that.
like - she gained that reputation among her siblings because when the septa asked her a question, she always told the truth because 'that is what youre supposed to do', and maybe told on her siblings' shenanigans. which i find hilarious tbh.
Confession: I’m glad Sansa wasn’t crowned Queen until the very end.
Because we got to see more scenes of her acting Queenly when she didn’t have to be. She is given time to formulate her opinions, her leadership style and how she interacts with others.
It makes her getting crowned more satisfying.
The real reason why I don’t ship Sansa with anyone.
I've been thinking about my own relationship with romance. I do feel sexual and romantic attraction towards men, and I see a lot of myself within Sansa Stark. We’re both romantic, sympathetic, fanciful, dreamy, stubborn, proud, shrewd, smart and we both struggle with trust and true intentions. Sansa keeps her cards close to her chest, and so do I.
But I don’t ship Sansa with anyone. Not because I don’t think any of the characters are good enough for her, but because it’s hard to see a character I relate to in romantic situations, considering I am very awkward when it comes to romance.
If that makes sense?
I rarely discuss Sansa & Romance- because I don't think about it that often. If you've been following me for a while, you may have seen me discuss my ideal endgame for Sansa. She's at Winterfell, in a leadership position and continues Ned and Catelyn's legacy. It's bittersweet in that she's lost so much in order for her to be safe and happy. I like comparing Sansa to Katniss Everdeen or even Frodo, who also had bittersweet endings.
Romance only makes up a small amount of Sansa's plotline. I find it a lot easier to discuss the politics of her story, or how she's a keen learner or her compassion. But that's personal preference. It's fine to discuss romance. But it's a topic I struggle with because I see misconception after misconception.
First thing- Sansa doesn't need a partner to be happy. C'mon, it's 2018. She can have a fully content future without romance. Secondly, it's about Sansa and her choices. She can be happy with a partner, but her worth shouldn't be boiled down to them. I'm happy to write that a vast majority of shippers avoid this cliche. A lot of Sansa's arc is about her gaining independence and forging her own identity. Most shippers respect that.
A lot of shippers focus on looks- and write things such as 'this character is hot, and Sansa should end up with someone hot' or 'Sansa deserves someone ugly to teach her looks don't matter'. Both ignore something crucial: Only Sansa has to find them attractive and wants to date them. This obsession with looks and physical appearance is shallow, but ignores a core thing that they ultimately don't matter if your partner wants to date you and are accepting. Instead, I'd focus on Sansa's characterization and what she personally wants. If Sansa doesn't want to date a guy that she's not attracted to- that's okay. Not endorsing or dismissing any ships here, btw.
I'm okay with Sansa having a romantic partner- and if GRRM makes her alone, it shouldn't be as a 'punishment' or whatever. It also shouldn't be a statement, it should be a natural progression of the plot and themes. Considering a lot of Sansa's arc is her being forced into relationships- with Tyrion, with Littlefinger- her picking a partner seems freeing. Sansa deciding romance on her own terms is empowering.
Whoever you ship Sansa with- Jon Snow, Harry the Heir, Margaery, Sandor, etc- that's fine. A lot of Sansa ships fit in nicely with my ideal endgame for her. Romance is one thing out of many that make up Sansa's character. But Sansa & Romance is a topic that doesn't intrigue me as much as it does to others.

Sansa as the ‘final girl’ in the horror movie though. Ramsay or Joffrey is obviously the monster, serial killer. Sansa outsmarting them at the final turn, not using physical strength but her wits. Sansa knowing the best hiding spots because she’s done a ton of research, Sansa refusing to run up the stairs when the serial killer approaches (instead she runs out the door). Sansa grabbing the knife nearby. Sansa being sassy. Sansa surviving.

Sansa’s plotline deals with numerous themes (identity, power, belonging, friendship, love, politics, abuse, family). Her story has always been about those things. She learns and grows- but she shouldn’t have to learn things in such a brutal way. Arya learns and grows. So does Bran. So does Daenerys. So does Jon. But only Sansa is viewed as ‘wrong’ and ‘needing to change.’
Sansa isn’t a ‘wrong person.’ She’s kind, considerate, compassionate and lovely. Her experiences, being viewed as punishment is so disgusting.
Sansa’s plotline is not about her ‘learning lessons’. This is ASOIAF, not an after school special. To portray her as someone who constantly needs to learn things is exploitative and gross.
Another reason why Sansa is ‘the red wolf’- she’s the only red haired Stark where her hair is an actual plot point. It’s dyed to represent her transformation into ‘Alayne Stone’, and her hair will return to its rich auburn- representing that Sansa Stark is back into the world.. People comment about her hair all the time. Sansa’s hair is a big deal. Like, you get this description of her hair
She had auburn hair, lighter than mine, and so thick and soft... the red in it would catch the light of the torches and shine like copper.
People use her ‘Southeron Tully looks’ against Sansa, but I think it works in her favour. She’s the best of both worlds (Stark & Tully).
