He let out a breath of exhilaration as they continued to chase down the elusive creature. Keeping up with Hanzi’s pace was easy, but not knowing what he should be looking for added an entertaining aspect to the chase itself. Furū hadn’t imagined his afternoon playing out this way, but Hanzi’s zest for life was simply too infectious to pass up.
Whatever it was, he had to admit he was impressed. This chase had taken them in a zigzag of directions that could have probably solved most labyrinths. The further the creature evaded capture, the less recognizable their surroundings were becoming to him. Eventually they came to a split in the path and Hanzi slowed. Furū let out a chuckle. “Might I ask exactly what it is we’re chasing?”
