Thinking abt daughter reader (neglected or not, as you please đ) wearing a fake pearl necklace and having it accidentally torn with the beads falling off... right in front of Bruce :) Bonus reader looking just like Martha Wayne, double bonus if it happens at night when reader is walking down an alleyway after watching a movie, triple bonus if the necklace breaks when reader is being confronted by a mugger, and quadruple bonus (shoutout to Dick Grayson đ) reader actually being super chill abt it. Like oh sure here's a hundred bucks oops oh no the fake pearl necklace I bought for flapper aesthetic just broke how embarrassing, oh hello there Mr Batman you look kinda unwell, everything okay?
Gotham, midnight. Rain slicked the pavement, catching neon like oil spills. The kind of night that smelled like trouble.
You werenât scared.
Youâd just seen a re-run of Chicago at one of the art house cinemas, vintage ticket stub still peeking out of your thrifted clutch. The pearls around your neck were cheapâten bucks off Etsy, âGreat Gatsby costume pieceâ in the descriptionâbut they glowed white against your skin like they were real. And maybe, for a little while, that made you feel real too.
The alley was a shortcut. Classic mistake. You werenât stupid, just tired. Gotham could feel it. The kind of city that always knew when you dropped your guard.
âHey.â
You turned.
The man was lanky, twitchy. Bad teeth. Knife in hand, eyes jittery with something chemical. âWallet. Now.â
You blinked. Then sighed, pulling out a crisp hundred-dollar bill from your clutch and holding it out.
âHere.â
He stared. âThe hell is this?â
âA hundred,â you said. âI donât carry a wallet. Too bulky. You can buy three pizzas, get high, maybe even tip someone.â
The mugger hesitated. Then lunged for your bag anywayâfumbling, pulling, his fingers catching on your necklace.
Snap.
Pearls scattered like gunfire on the wet cement. They bounced and rolled, luminous little ghosts vanishing into storm drains.
You stared down at them, unimpressed. âAw, man. I just bought that. Now I canât pretend Iâm Daisy Buchanan anymore.â
The mugger growled, âAre you serious?â
âIâm trying to be.â
âHEY!â
The voice hit like thunderâdeep, familiar, jagged with fury.
From the shadows above, a shape descended. Not just a shapeâa myth.
Batman.
Cape snapping behind him, boots hitting ground like judgment day. The mugger didnât even get to scream before he was disarmed and flat on his back, out cold with a single blow.
You folded your arms. âWow. He wasnât even that good.â
Batman turned to you. Stopped.
And stared.
It wasnât the pearls.
It wasnât the alley.
It wasnât even the crime.
It was you.
You looked like a ghostâMarthaâs ghost.
Same eyes. Same bone structure. Same pearlsâexcept, no, they were plastic, shattered, lost in puddles. But it didnât matter. For one split second, Bruce Wayne was back in that alley. The one he never left.
And youâcalm, perfectly dry despite the rain, blinking at him like he was the ghostâtilted your head.
âUh⌠are you okay? You look like youâve seen a ghost.â
He didnât speak.
âWait,â you frowned. â...Mr. Wayne?â
That made him flinch.
âYeah,â you said, half-laughing. âKinda obvious. I mean, the jawline. The brooding. All that justice.â You knelt to pick up one of the fake pearls. âYou okay? You look like youâre gonna pass out.â
His throat worked, words caught there.
âIâYou shouldnât have been walking alone,â he finally said, voice rough like gravel. âGothamâs not safe.â
You pocketed the pearl. âTell me about it. I got mugged for the first time and lost my aesthetic in the same five seconds.â
A pause.
Then you smiled, too brightly for this haunted city. âHey. Wanna walk me home? If youâre not too busy glowering.â
BatmanâBruceânodded, slowly, still pale.
You didnât see the way his fingers curled slightly when he looked at your hand.
You didnât see the way his eyes followed each broken pearl like a funeral procession.
But you noticed the silence.
ââŚDo I remind you of someone?â you asked softly, as you walked together out of the alley.
He didnât answer.
Didnât need to.
The rain kept falling. But he stayed by your side the whole way home.
And when he finally disappeared into the dark, you whispered behind him, âTake care of yourself, Batman.â
Later, in the BatcaveâŚ
Dick: âBruce? You okay? You look like death warmed over.â
Bruce: ââŚShe looked just like her.â
Dick: half-joking âMartha?â
Bruce: silence
Dick: ââŚYouâre not seriousâwait. Wait. Was she wearing pearls?!â

Walk with me. Batfamily x neglected reader x Witch mother x Devil father. Something happens and Gotham ends up in tragedy. So Bruce ends up having to make a deal with the Devil in order get some magical item to save Gotham. And the Devil, being the little shit he is, actually ends up pulling a fast not on Bruce. Being one of the few who as been able to trick him successfully.
And reader is the one who ends up taken. Not dead, but traded. The batfam don't realize at first that reader is gone. When batfam start looking for reader they realize them being taken wasn't a "be carefull what you wish for situation" rather all this was planned. The Devil man wanted reader from the jump. Why??????? His wife, who is a witch, wanted a child and became obessed with reader.
Reader low-key is okay with it because they are acutally loved and don't have to fight for attention/ worrying about being overshadowed by other siblings.
Gotham was choking.
Buildings collapsed under curses older than any spellbook, smoke thick as ash blanketed the streets, and screams became part of the cityâs heartbeat. Bruce had seen the city die a thousand small deaths before, but this was different. This was final.
And so he did the one thing he swore heâd never do.
He went to the Devil.
âAhh, the Bat of Gotham,â the Devil purred, lounging in a throne of embers as if heâd been waiting. His smile curled like smoke. âHere to beg?â
Bruceâs jaw clenched. âI need the relic. The one that can undo this.â
âYou mortals. Always need.â A soft laugh, cruel. âAnd what will you give me, hm? A soul? A favor? Your name, perhaps?â
âIâll give you whatever you want,â Bruce bit out. âJust save the city.â
The Devilâs grin sharpened. Got him.
âDeal.â
By dawn, Gothamâs fires were gone. The curses unraveled like dust in wind. The city was saved.
But at Wayne Manor, Alfredâs voice carried a strange tremor:
âTheyâre⌠not here, Master Bruce.â
Readerâs room was empty. Not just their bedâeverything. Clothes, books, photos, even the trinkets they hoarded. Their presence had been erased as neatly as a chalk line in the rain.
It took days before the Devil came again, smoke curling around his shoulders like a loverâs hand.
âYou should thank me,â he drawled, watching Bruce stiffen. âI gave your city life. And I gave my wife the only thing sheâs ever wanted.â
âWhat did youââ
The Devilâs eyes gleamed. âA child.â
Reader woke not in Gotham, but in a house carved of bone and velvet, where chandeliers dripped candlelight that never burned out. A woman waited there, pale and radiant, with eyes that gleamed like stormwater.
âMy child,â she whispered, pulling Reader into her arms as if they had always belonged there. âYouâre home.â
The Witch mother doted on themâwarm meals, soft hands, whispered spells shared like bedtime stories. The Devil, for all his cruelty, spoiled them with gifts: blades forged from starlight, pets made of smoke and shadow, a world where they were seen.
For the first time, Reader didnât feel like a shadow in their own family. No more being overlooked, no more scraping for attention among brighter, louder siblings. Here, they were wanted.
When the Batfamily finally found themâslipping into the Devilâs realm with grit and desperationâthey expected chains, bruises, fear.
Instead, they found Reader laughing softly as the Witch braided their hair.
âReaderââ Dickâs voice cracked. âWeâre here. Weâll get you out.â
Reader blinked at them, expression unreadable. Then, calm as still water:
âWhy would I want to leave?â
Jason swore under his breath. Damian drew his blade. Timâs hands shook as if reaching across a gulf. Bruce stood frozen, the Devilâs grin echoing in his mind.
âYou never wanted me there,â Reader said, voice soft but cutting. âHere, I donât have to fight to be seen. I donât have to be second best. They love me.â
The Witch pressed a kiss to their temple, eyes locking with Bruceâs. Mine now, she seemed to say.
And Bruce understood the truth far too late. Gotham was saved, yes. But the cost had always been this.
Not a careless mistake. Not a trick of words.
A plan.
The Devil had wanted Reader from the start.
And for the first time in years, Bruce Wayne couldnât tell if heâd lost his child⌠or if Reader had finally been found.
Can you do Batfamly x neglected reader x yandere Superfamily, where neglected reader is so much more in tune with superfam rather than batfam. Clark randomly found out bruce had another kid (neglected reader) and didn't tell him and Clark wants to meet them, because why would his buddy not tell him this.
Cut to them all having dinner at the Kent farm with the whole superfamily and reader loves it. Reader was raised in the coutryside on a farm before living with the batfamly. Reader does not like the big city, Smallville is so comforting to them, wants to stay forever. They would be be up early in the morning offering to help the kents work around the farm, its not like they haven't done it before.
After that trip reader ends up sneaking out and leaving the batfamly or gets secretly taken by the superfamily, but reader isn't complaning, cause there home again.
It started with a casual conversation.
Clark had been over at the Watchtower with Bruce when he noticed a folder Bruce hastily tried to tuck away.
âWaitââL/Nâ? Bruce, is this a kidâs file? Donât tell me youâre fostering again and didnât tell me.â
Bruce froze. âTheyâre mine.â
Clark blinked. âExcuse me? You have another child and didnât tell me?â
âI had my reasons,â Bruce muttered, not meeting Clarkâs eyes.
Clarkâs warmth dropped just a degree. âWhatâs their name?â
đ˝ PART TWO: Dinner at the Kent Farm
You were more surprised than anyone when Bruce told you the Superman wanted to meet you. The Superfamily had never crossed your life much. You weren't a super, after all.
But the invitation to Smallville was... intriguing. Nostalgic, even.
The moment your boots touched Kent soil, something inside you relaxed. The fresh air. The gentle wind. The sound of cows mooing in the distance.
âHi there,â said a kind womanâMartha Kent. She opened her arms, and for the first time in what felt like years, you felt wanted. No stiff hugs. No interrogations. Just soft acceptance.
Dinner was warm and loud and sweet. Jon talked your ear off. Kon offered you dessert before the main course. Kara was already pulling out her phone and asking for selfies. Even Krypto laid his head on your lap.
And Clark?
Clark just watched you with a gentle smile, as if trying to memorize every expression you made.
âYou were raised on a farm?â he asked as the sun set, your laugh echoing through the fields.
âYeah,â you said softly. âBefore Gotham. Before... all of that.â
âDo you miss it?â
You looked up at the stars.
ââŚEvery single day.â
đ PART THREE: The Next Morning
You woke up before dawn, slipping out of the guest room and tying your boots.
By the time Martha and Clark came downstairs, you were already out back feeding chickens and checking the fences.
âYou didnât have to do that, sweetheart,â Martha said.
âI wanted to,â you replied. âIt feels like home again.â
đď¸ PART FOUR: Return to Gotham
Back in Wayne Manor, you were quiet again.
Damian was cold. Tim was distracted. Jason made snarky comments you were too tired to dodge. Dick tried, but it wasnât the same.
No early morning chores. No wide skies. No fresh air. No one looked up when you entered a room.
You missed the way Kara let you nap on her shoulder. The way Clark listened so patiently. The way Jon lit up when you showed him how to fix a fence post.
You missed family.
đ PART FIVE: The Disappearance
You disappeared three days later.
No note. No text. No trace.
But Clark knew exactly where youâd gone. Because heâd been watching. Waiting. Hoping.
Bruce came storming into the Kent home three nights later.
âWhere are they?â he growled.
âSafe,â Clark answered calmly, arms crossed.
âThey belong with me.â
Clarkâs eyes narrowed. âDo they? Because they told Martha they cried themselves to sleep in your house. They told Kara they were treated like a weapon, not a person. They told me⌠they didnât want to leave.â
âYou took them.â
âNo,â Clark corrected, âI gave them a choice. And they chose to stay.â
Behind him, you stood at the doorframe, sun-kissed and smiling in a way you never had at the Manor.
How about neglectful Batfamily x divorced wife reader x yandere Clark kent. After neglected reader divorces Bruce clark ends up seducing neglected reader. Clark has always liked reader and knew he could treat you better that bruce ever could. Clark kept it secret until after the batfam realizes why they lost they discovered reader already is pregnant and got married so quickly to clark
Shout out to @luludeluluramblings, and @acid-ixx
[Cold Open â Batcave]
The family is gathered around the Batcomputer. Bruce looks annoyed, Jason is eating chips loudly, Tim is typing, Damian is sulking, and Dick is trying to keep everyone calm.
Dick: So [Y/N] left. Big deal, people leave all the time. The important thing is we donât panic.
Jason: mouth full Oh Iâm panicking. Because now Superman is their rebound, and you canât compete with cheekbones like that.
Damian: deadpan to camera He doesnât even have cheekbones. He has⌠cliffs.
[Cutaway â Jason, interview style]
Jason: Look, if you lose someone to Clark Kent? Thatâs not neglect, thatâs Darwinism. Survival of the hottest.
[Scene â Clarkâs Apartment]
Clark: smiling as he cooks dinner I just think [Y/N] deserves to be spoiled.
Reader: Youâre literally treating me like a houseplant. Food, water, and sunlight.
Clark: And love. Donât forget love.
Reader: to camera, cutaway He says âloveâ like other people say âtax audit.â
[Scene â Wayne Manor]
Tim: sighs, scrolling on the Batcomputer They changed their relationship status to âmarried.â
Dick: Married?! Howâwhenâwhy?!
Jason: laughing Dude, you blink and Clark Kent has already built them a house in Kansas and named the cows after them.
Damian: hisses He stole my mom...
[Cutaway â Damian, interview style]
Damian: People say Superman is the worldâs symbol of hope. For me, heâs the worldâs symbol of theft.
[Scene â Clark & Reader on Couch]
Reader: You know, you donât have to be so protective.
Clark: Iâm not protective. Iâm⌠proactive.
Reader: Youâre proactive the way a hurricane is âwindy.â
[Cutaway â Reader, interview style]
Reader: Donât get me wrong, Clark is sweet. But sometimes he looks at me like heâs about to monologue: imitating Clark âYou are my sun, my moon, my Kryptonite.â And Iâm just like⌠buddy, I still havenât folded my laundry.
[Scene â Wayne Manor, Living Room]
Bruce: We need to strategize.
Jason: Strategize? He already locked that down. Theyâre wearing the ring, B.
Dick: Maybe we can appeal to [Y/N]. Family. History.
Tim: muttering Or maybe we couldâve appealed to them five years ago when they needed us.
Awkward silence.
[Cutaway â Bruce, interview style]
Bruce: Iâm not good at⌠words. Or emotions. Or parenting. long pause Honestly, Iâm not sure why people keep letting me adopt kids.
[Final Scene â Clark & Reader in Kitchen]
Clark: I just want you to be happy.
Reader: grinning Well, you married me, so clearly Iâm making questionable choices.
Clark: soft smile Best questionable choice Iâve ever made.
Camera zooms in on them hugging, then smash cut to Jason watching their livestream with popcorn.
Jason: to camera Yeah, theyâre doomed. But at least itâs entertaining.

Tim: My entire weighted blanket is in that pile.
Damian: She took my sword again.
Bruce: I think Iâm missing a boot.

[Training Room Disaster]
Damian: You canât teach a dragon to stealth. Sheâs glowing.

Tim (screaming): SHEâS COOKING TOO MUCH.

Tim: Guys. She chewed through my laptop charger. Again.
Damian: She tried to hatch my robin eggs.
Jason: âŚWhy do you have robin eggs?
Dick: Guys she just called me âsparkle knightâ and gave me a sock. Iâm crying.
Bruce: Sheâs learning. Show her patience.
Reader (typing): HAHAHAH FIRE BUTTON FUNNY
Bruce: âŚWhere is she.
Alfred: Currently stuck to the ceiling with peanut butter.
Beloved Batfam Toddler or Child Reader... Halloween edition!
Have you ever had to run after a child while keeping them safe during trick-or-treating? Kids are balls of energy that take a loooong time to get tired, they also get bored quickly. So that got me thinking:
Reader's first time trick-or-treating, what costume would they wear (imagine them in a non-batfam costume but another superhero costume lol)? Who would walk around with them and keep them safe (would the fam have a battle before every halloween just to have the honor of protecting you for halloween?)? Who would they give their best candies to? And who would they give the worst candies to?
How would halloween look like as years go by, imagine if Reader refuses to wear any Batfam costume and always goes as every other JL hero every year, one time it was the Flash, next was Superman, WW, heck, sometimes even villains were their favored costume, but one fateful night, Reader wanted to play a trick (or-treat, sorry, couldn't help myself) and wore one Batfam costume....and caused chaos among the family.
What if one Halloween, Reader sees a cool costume and points to the guy and says "I really like your costume, you look awesome!", with sparkling eyes, and it turns out to be one of the villains who escaped Arkham.
The villain: "đĽš, awww, thank you, tiny child"
Anyways, I can't think up more atm, but I'd love to read your take on this!
And please, get carried away again, cuz we (the readers) definitely love it.
Thank you!! đ
(All costumes are non-Batfam JL heroes⌠until theyâre not.)
Reader (age 3, in a puffy Superman onesie with a crooked S): âUp, up, and away!â trips over cape
Bruce (carrying them like a football): âWeâre working on the landing.â
Dick (holding a map of Gothamâs safest trick-or-treat route): âOkay, kiddo, we hit Elm Street first, thenââ
Reader: âNO. CANDY NOW.â
Dick: âYouâre three. You donât even have a plan.â
Reader: âI have vision.â
Jason (watching Reader sprint toward a house with a âTake Oneâ bowl): âThey just took twelve.â
Tim: âThatâs not trick-or-treating. Thatâs a heist.â
Reader (mouth full of Snickers): âTax.â
Damian (age 10, arms crossed): âGrayson, you are not qualified to escort the blood heir.â
Dick: âIâve been babysitting since you were in diapers, demon brat.â Reader (tugging Damianâs cape): âI pick Jay.â
Jason (smirking): âSuck it, losers.â
Dick & Damian, simultaneously: âBETRAYAL.â
Reader (age 5, dressed as The Flash, vibrating in place): âGOFASTGOFASTGOFASTââ
Barry Allen (visiting, actual Flash): âKid, youâre gonna give me a run for my money.â
Reader: âRace you to the moon.â
Barry: â...I like this one.â
Reader (age 6, in a Wonder Woman tiara, holding a lasso): âWHO ATE MY REESEâS?!â
Tim (hiding wrapper): âIt was a tactical sacrifice.â
Reader: âTHE LASSO COMPELS YOU.â
Tim: â...It was Jason.â
Jason (from the vents): âSNITCH.â
Bruce (handing out full-size candy bars at the manor door): âTrick or treaters get one.â
Reader (in Green Lantern hoodie): âBut Iâm you but tiny.â
Bruce: â...Take three.â
Alfred (watching): âMaster Bruce, you have a weakness.â
Bruce: âItâs strategic.â
Reader (age 7, dressed as Harley Quinnâchaos ensues): âPuddinâ! Letâs blow up the pumpkin!â
Dick (panicking): âNO EXPLOSIVESââ
Reader: âItâs a fake mallet!â
Jason (tearing up): âThey grow up so fast.â
THE YEAR READER WEARS A BATFAM COSTUME
Reader (age 8, in a tiny Red Hood helmet): âTrick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat.â
Jason (frozen): â...Thatâs my voice.â
Reader (pulling out a plastic gun): âBang.â
Jason: âIâm gonna cry.â
Dick (sobbing): âThey picked Jason?!â
Damian: âThis is a hate crime.â
Reader (pointing at actual Joker escaping Arkham, in full makeup): âCOOL CLOWN! YOUR COSTUME IS AWESOME!â
Joker (mid-getaway, touched): âAww, kiddo, you get itââ
Nightwing (tackling him): âSTOP BONDING WITH MY BABY!â Reader: âBut he said thank you...â
Reader (age 9, dressed as Aquaman, holding a trident pool noodle): âI command the seven seas... of candy.â
Arthur Curry (visiting): âFinally, some respect.â
Bruce: âYouâre not taking them to Atlantis.â
Arthur: âToo late. Theyâre already king.â
Tim (trying to enforce a candy curfew): âBedtime. No more sugar.â Reader (in Martian Manhunter cape, levitating Oreos): âYou canât see me.â
Tim: â...I need a raise.â
Reader (age 10, in a Black Adam onesie): âI AM THE STORM.â
Bruce: âYouâre grounded from lightning.â
Reader: âYOU CANâT GROUND WEATHER.â
Final Halloween (age 11, in a mysterious costumeâhood up, voice modulator): âGuess who I am.â
Entire Batfam: â...Batman?â
Reader (pulling hood down, revealing Clark Kent glasses): âNope. Supermanâs secret identity.â
Bruce: â...I need to sit down.â
Clark (laughing): âTheyâre smarter than all of you.â
Bonus (every year, without fail):
Reader (handing Alfred a single Hersheyâs Kiss): âThis is the best one. For you.â
Alfred (tearing up): âMaster Wayne, Iâm keeping this child forever.â
Hi could i request a yandere batfam x neglected reader (platonic) which reader k!lled herself when she was like 13-14 due to the neglected and the bullying at school (if you uncomfortable with this you can change to reader got murdered by the bullies). Batfam was too late, reader died. They were devastated. 5 years later reader's coffin got stolen and all batfam are searching who stole it. They found a secret lab underground that doing some experiment with a dead body and then they found a girl sleeping peacefully with some medical tube/wire connecting to her turn out it's reader. She come back to life by those mad scientist but all of her memories about her past has gone. Batfam take her back to the manor and become full yandere mode (before she died, she's younger than tim but older than damian but when she come back to life she's the youngest)
Five Years Ago
They were too late.
The BatfamilyâBruce, Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, Barbara, Alfredâall of them, brilliant, powerful, and relentless⌠and still too late.
You had been gone for hours when they found your body. No note. No cries for help. No signs that youâd even wanted to be found.
And the truth was, you didnât.
You had already given up. The bullying at school. The cold silence at home. The feeling that you were invisible, the spare child between Tim and Damian, neither youngest nor useful. No one heard you. No one saw you.
Until you were gone.
You were just 14. A child.
And when Bruce cradled your cold body in his arms, the Batfamily shattered.
Present Day â 5 Years Later
The Batcave alarm blared.
âCoffin missing,â Tim whispered, his voice hollow as the footage played on screen. A surgical team. Black market equipment. Someone had stolen your remains from the family crypt beneath the manor. Desecrated you.
Damian was the first to scream. Not out of rage. Grief.
Jason punched a wall. Bloodied his knuckles. Didnât care.
Bruce stood frozen, eyes on the screen like if he stared long enough, heâd wake up from this second nightmare.
âWeâre getting her back,â he said with deathly finality.
Underground Facility â Gotham Outskirts
They found it buried 200 feet beneath a ruined hospital.
The lab was cold. Silver. Glowing with sterile lights. There were containers of chemicals. Digital logs. Notes on "cellular resurrection." But all of it blurred in the background becauseâ
She was there.
You were there.
Lying on a medical bed, wires and fluid tubes weaving around your body like roots. You looked no older than 9 or 10, smaller than even Damian now. But it was you.
Breathing.
Peaceful.
Alive.
Until your eyes fluttered open.
Wayne Manor â After
You didnât remember them.
You didnât remember yourself.
Just blurry lights. A female voice humming lullabies. Cold glass. Dreams you couldnât describe.
Now they were your âfamily.â Strangers who claimed to love you.
Bruce was always there. Sitting in your room like a silent statue, watching you breathe like youâd vanish if he blinked.
Dick brought toys and books and told you stories with tears in his eyes, like he was apologizing.
Jason flinched every time you asked, âWhy are you crying?â
Tim ran medical checks constantly. "Just making sure youâre healthy, okay?" He tracked every movement, every breath.
Damian didnât speak muchâhe just stared, as if he was trying to memorize you all over again.
They were kind.
Too kind.
Smiling too tightly. Holding you too long. Always watching.
And they never let you be alone.
Yandere Spiral
You didnât see the cameras hidden in your new bedroom.
Or how Bruce installed a retinal scanner on your door âfor safety.â
Or how Tim bugged your clothes with a tracker.
Or how Jason muttered death threats under his breath anytime someone other than family so much as looked at you.
Or how Damian growled at Alfred when he served your tea too hot.
You didnât understand why you couldnât go to school.
Why your phone only had their numbers.
Why Dick said âthe worldâs dangerousâ and âweâre all you need.â
You didnât remember how they had once ignored you.
Didnât know how your silence had once been their sin.
All you knew was: you were loved. And protected.
Suffocatingly so.
One Night
You found a photo hidden in your closet.
It was you. But older. Sad-eyed. Lonely.
The writing on the back, in your own handwriting, read:
âMaybe if I disappear, theyâll finally see me.â
You stared at it for a long time.
You didnât know what it meant.
But suddenly, when Bruce knocked softly and whispered, âPumpkin? You awake?â
