SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB S COMMERCIAL
After the first viewing, i immediately pay attention to the visuals because the most important thing about the commercial is the super amoled display. The main idea of this commercial is what you see in the samsung galaxy tab is as same as what you see in the real life, the quality will be same and the visuals are as realistic as the real life. They said in the commercial: “Super Amoled display makes content come alive.” That's why they mostly divide the screen into two pieces and show the audience the difference between super amoled display and normal view. They generally shoot the commercial in open natural areas, they do not use studio. Because the shots are come from the real life. So i think they generally use natural lightining with a little help of studio lights. They use direct camera angles but the actors and actresses are not directly following the camera. The camera shots are come from real life too because of the perspective and ideology of the commercial. The editing of the commercial plans are not continious but they follow each other. For example; in the first plan, the tiger run through the camera and in the following plan, the father scares his child by approaching the tab in the tent. Because of the reality of the screen, they are camping in their house as they are camping in the wild life. They use daily life clothes because all the plans conceived form regular day life like two women drinking their coffee at a coffee house and show each other the man that dives to ocean from the cliff.I clearly remember that tiger scene and the cat scene which is the cats trying to catch fishes shown on the Samsung tab but not on the “other” tab.
The soundrack is a song of Echosmith which is an American indie pop band. The name of the song is Come Together. The lyrics which are used in the commercial are: “We've got hopes on the horizon. We are gonna come together.”. The soundrack doesn't change the course of the commercial on the contrary it supports the main idea. There are other sound in the commercial like the growling soung that father does when he try to scare his son or the sound of approuval when the other women shows the man who dives. These other sounds -of course- comes from the real life and they used to make audience believe that what they told is real. The commercial is prepared for costomers who wants to buy not a regular but an unusual tab. The costomers should be the people who wants more from a tab.
1.Author (constructedness)
This is a commercial of Samsung Galaxy tab. The building blocks of this advertisement are camera angles, lighting, music and sound effects that i mention above. This is similar with the other commercials because it has not surrealism and they use regular life items. They use editing programs, cameras etc. as technologic devices. They may use billboards or radio commercials in addition to this tv ad. To create this message we need approximately 150 peoples. There are 3 stages: creation, production and post production. In creative step there are creative director, art director, writer, agency producer, PR director and customer representatives. In production part; there are director, directory asisstances, a group for lightening technicians, sound technicians, director of photography, set director, hair and makeup artists and costume designer. And finally for post production; there are a film editer, one people for sound mixage and one people for adjusting of colors.
2.Format (and techniques of production)
There are a lot of vibrant colors because of the content but the colors are come from real life like woods, coffee shop or house colors. There is a jingle, it is a song of Echosmith, the name is Come Together as i mentioned before. There are no obvious dialogues but at the and of the commercial there is a small narraration. Clothing is daily. Set is not artificial it is mainly real places. There is a set of plans which are not continous. They are part of various scenarios. Lightining is mostly natural day light supported by studio life. The viewpoint of the camera is to reflect what's going on in daily life. The story told by people who experienced this tab and how they affected by that. This commercial is presenting a section to the audience and show how this tab make people feel. So, actors and actrisses do the regular, normal life activities. There are no visual metaphors, things are very clear and easy to understand. What it makes real is, they show this tab in a normal life and live a lot of experiences by just looking at the screen.
I watched commercials like this before like other Samsung commercials and others. I have tab too and this commercial is pretty close to my daily experiences with my iPad. What i learn from this commercial is the display of this tab is better than mine and i realize that i am little bit greedy. The company could use billboards, newspapers, magazines or radio to inform people about their product and to reach more people. People who watched this commercial (according to YouTube comments) generally wants to know about the soundtrack, but they generally made comments about how they think about the device. All other viewpoints are as valid as mine because i am not an authority
The people who are in the commercial are live a daily life anf the behaviors are reflected from daily life too because this is what they want to show to audience. The target audience is whom wants to buy a tab and wants more from it. Maybe young adults can be more interested by that. When i watched that commercial, i want to know more about this device. The fact that its reality and compatibility is what make it “sold”.
The advertisement agency is in control of the creation and transmission of this message. They send this message to various channels. They served it to reach the public and make them buy it.
