āItās snowing outside!ā (I see you write Riley really well. I'm just selfishly wanting to see more.)
omg youāre so sweet! I hope this isnāt too much of a letdown haha, Iāve always been scared to try Riarkle because I donāt want to mess Farkle up!Ā
The sky was awake, so RileyĀ was awake.Ā
Unfortunately, beside her, Maya was still snoring softly, burrowed into Rileyās covers. Riley folded her arms over her chest, staring at the ceiling and trying not to bounce excitedly in place. She could feelĀ winter in the air, though, after what had felt like an interminable fall, and she turned on her side to see sheets of snow falling outside, blanketing the world in a soft white glow.
That wasnāt all she saw outside, though -- Rileyās face brightened when she saw a familiar form on the fire escape, and she rolled out of bed, shoving her feet into boots and tugging on a marshmallow coat, casting a glance back at Maya and thinking that her friend would be safe and asleep for a little while longer.
āFarkle!ā Riley whispered excitedly as she opened the window, crawling out onto the ledge with him. She shivered slightly, her legs only covered in the leggings sheād been sleeping in, but her entire face lit up when she saw her friend.
āItās snowing outside!ā he told her, waving around at the winter wonderland.Ā āI knew you wouldnāt want to miss the first snow of the winter!ā She could have thrown her arms around him and hugged him right then and there, if she hadnāt been worried about toppling down the fire escape. Farkle was one of her oldest friends, and she should have known she could count on him to come drag her outside and enjoy the early morning hours that no one else seemed to appreciate.Ā
Riley pulled her window closed behind her so that Maya wouldnāt freeze, grabbed Farkleās hand, and gratefully tugged her friend down the fire escape and in the direction of the park for a morning of playing in the snow, before the rest of the world was awake to turn it into the dirty sludge that New Yorkerās knew all too well.
