I don’t know if he’s ever mentioned it elsewhere, but at a screening I went to, Don Hertzfeldt talked about making that Simpsons intro. He said that Fox insisted on having the actual cast of the show read the lines, and he ended up with recordings featuring multiple takes. So he had to sift through stuff like Julie Kavner saying, “All animals can scream!” repeatedly.
I’ve never brought this up before because for some reason, I just feel weird even thinking about this. I can never decide if I’d actually want to hear that or not.

like i hadn't actually re-consumed any of its media in many years and never got around to the newest stuff, but i still remember pretty much every single old character and location and plot point and random world building detail down to the smallest and most background ones to this day, despite how vast the cast and big the setting is

post-disney-buyout simpsons doing all these little crossover specials with other disney-owned franchises and even freaking fashion line modelling specials is definitely starting (well, continuing) to skeeve me out, i don't care if loki's in springfield or maggie's in star wars, megacorps flaunting their ip monopoly in such forced ways is not as fun as they think it is
the one solid good thing latter day simpsons has going for it is that the couch gag spot turned into a showcase for all sorts of guest animators and artists and the creative team’s weird little ideas, that’s legit rad, i want to see more of that on tv
