2013

We DEBUNKED that Cait was had gone to PARIS with Sam in December 2013.

2014

We DEBUNKED that March 22, 2014 was a “special day” for Sam and Cait because it was a romantic anniversary for them.

2015

This POST refutes the claim that Sam and Cait led the fandom on in 2014-2015 through their flirty behavior. Yes they flirted a lot but they also presented the fandom with other information that they were not a couple. 

We DEBUNKED the Abbie is a “family friend” rumor and presented strong evidence that she had been his girlfriend. Furthermore, on 11.25.17 Abbie finally CONFIRMED that she used to date Sam, thereby totally debunking the ES belief that she was just “a family friend.” The context for this was a troll had gotten Abbie to change her avi. Another fan explained that the troll wanted the avi changed because the photo reminded ES of when she was dating Sam. She said getting rid of the avi makes it “like you never dated Sam.” To which Abbie replied, “I think everyone knows I did. But that was then and this is now.” She ended up deleting the comment, most likely because she wanted to avoid trolls attacking her (and AT LEAST ONE unfortunately did).

We provided a different perspective (see POST) about Sam and Cait at Paleyfest on 03.12.15 that indicated that they were just good friends and colleagues. The ring on Cait’s finger wasn’t a wedding ring--it was a prop. Furthermore, the shipper claims that Cait called Sam her “favorite husband” and that Sam said “I love you” were not confirmed by this writer (who didn’t hear any of that no matter how many times she played the videos). People hear different things when stimuli is ambiguous.  

We suggested the “ring” seen in a blurry screencap of Sam’s hand during the LA Marathon o 03.15.15 was actually just an optical illusion or it had been photoshopped onto the original photo (see POST). 

We DEBUNKED the Faux Abbie in Paris with another man photo (06.20.15). 

We debunked the 07.11.15 Sam and Cait KISS IN FRONT OF THE WINDOW at SDCC2015 photo. The ANGLOPHILE CHANNEL also denied (on11.20.15) that they had seen a KISS between Sam and Cait at SDCC 2015. 

This post DEBUNKS the belief that Sam and Cait attended a WWPJ concert on 08.27.15.

This post DEBUNKS the belief that Cait and Sam’s mother Chrissie went to see a play together on August 8, 2015.

We provided evidence that all the women the ES claimed to be Cait at the Laophroaig anniversary event ON ISLAY (09.24.15) were NOT CAIT. 

This POST debunks the lie that Tony is gay (10.18.15).

GRANT’S CLASSIC RESPONSE to a tweet about the Sam/ Cait wedding rumors debunked those rumors (11.18.15). 

We debunked the rumors that Sam and Cait got married in late November or early December 2015. See POST1 (re: the “wedding kilt” and the Thailand “honeymoon” rumors), POST2 (re: the London & the Rosslyn Chapel “wedding” rumors), (POST3 (re: the “bachelor party” rumors), POST4 (re: the “celebratory macaroons”), POST5 (re: Cait’s gold rings ), and POST6 (re: the Spanish “wedding” rumors).

We thoroughly debunked the false claims about Sam being in COSTA RICA for New Year’s Eve 2015. (The ES made that claim despite Nell Hudson, the Muay Thai gym guy and Sam himself saying Sam was in Thailand for NYE.)

2016

We debunked the rumor that Sam missed the PCAs on 01.06.16 because his flight was cancelled (which of course meant to the ES that he had to have been in Costa Rica). 

We DEBUNKED that Sam and Cait’s mood changed that much from “Flirty Thursday” to the Friday when they did the KDS/ IFH denial video.

We debunked that Sam and Cait were lying during the KDS/ IFH denial video (01.08.16), and that Sam was anguished during the interview. We debunked the rumor that Sam was also DISTRAUGHT after the KDS/ IFH on 01.08.16.

We debunked the claim that it meant anything romantic that Sam put his ARM around Cait’s (chair or body) while sitting at the Golden Globes on 01.10.16. 

We also debunked the claim that Tony STAYED with Cait's friends and Sam was up with her late the night before the Golden Globes.

We interpreted the HANTLERS picture differently than the ES did during SCOTCHTALK on 01.15.16.

It turned out that it was Sam’s friend M and not Cait who had had a drunken late night GYM session with the boys on 02.28.16

We debunked a FAUXSAM photo in Paris in early March 2016 (which the ES assumed indicated he was in Paris with Cait). It also wasn’t clear that it was Sam to whom his friend M was referring regarding having BAILED at the gym on 03.05.16. We DEBUNKED the rumor that Sam had put up a decoy gym photo and that he had left Glasgow (he was in Glasgow until 03.12.16). Sam’s social media activity at that time also indicated that he was not with Cait (see this POST and this POST).

In March 2016, his POST and this POST debunked the belief that Cait said “Saaaaam” during a love scene in The Reckoning.  [On 08.30.17, this POST debunked a shipper saying that Cait had admitted that she had said “Saaaaam” at the Highlanders 2 Outlander Fan Event.]

We DEBUNKED the claim that Cait gave Sam a kiss at the 04.07.16 Saks/ Outlander windows event. The woman who took the video of the alleged kiss also stated (on 07.01.16) that NO KISS OCCURRED. 

We questioned the assumption of the ES that MacKenzie was in NC when Shatner supposedly met her at LUNCH at the horse show on June 5, 2016. We also proved that their rumor that Shatner tried to set Sam up with a “journalist” months after the lunch was false (it was a COMEDIAN and the original story came out on FEBRUARY 20, 2016--months before the lunch happened. The ES who first TWEETED about it apparently didn’t bother to find out if the story had originally come out at an earlier date.

We DEBUNKED the lie that the 06.12.16 Sam/ MacKenzie winery photo was a PR set-up. (The woman who took it was NOT an Outlander producer and had co-produced one series for Starz two years before the photo was taken).

It was easy to prove that the petite woman certain ES claimed to be Cait at the 06.22.16 DODGER’S GAME was not Cait and that FauxSam was not Sam.  

We DEBUNKED the lie that Cait was PREGNANT in 2016 and had Sam’s baby in July 2016 and that she was pregnant again in 2018. We also DEBUNKED the lie that changes in her nipples/breasts indicated that she had been pregnant sometime between The Wedding and The Printshop episodes. 

We DEBUNKED Mr. Lemon on 08.16.16. Furthermore, on 05.06.18 Cait herself DEBUNKED Mr. Lemon when she liked a tweet saying that Tony brought her the lemon for her tea “with a happy face a a hug drawn on it.”

We DEBUNKED that MacKenzie and Billy were still dating in early autumn 2016.

We debunked the FAUXHEAD SAM IN PARIS (10.05.16), which the ES touted as being Sam when all one has to do is see the UNCROPPED PHOTO to know it wasn’t. 

The ES claim that the Novel Adventures woman was in cahoots with a PR conspiracy centered around Sam being in North Carolina in late November 2016 was  DEBUNKED on 12.01.16 by the NOVEL ADVENTURES woman herself. 

We DEBUNKED the Sam with Cait in Ireland rumor for Christmas Eve/ Day 2016.

2017

We DEBUNKED the false claim that Mackenzie wasn’t in the Alps with Sam in early January 2017.  Recently on 02.14.18, the man who owns a restaurant that Sam and MacKenzie visited in Switzerland posted a photo of the two of them as part of a Valentine’s day montage on his IG. It was also clear from a photo he posted on 01.28.18 of pictures of celebrities in his restaurant that that photo had been up for some time--probably from when Sam and MacKenzie were there in January 2017.)

We DEBUNKED the Faux Sam with Cait at the 01.21.17 Women’s March. 

The following are a series of posts that debunk the T2 narrative of Sam and Cait. This POST shows how Sam wasn’t whistling at Cait during the T2 premiere. This POST shows how other romantic co-stars are asked to pose the way Sam and Cait did at the T2 premiere. This POST shows how Sam and Cait posed in numerous ways for the photographers (based on their directions) and how most poses only lasted probably a few seconds. This POST debunks the claim that they were holding hands at T2. This POST shows gifs of Cait and Tony at the T2 premiere.

We DEBUNKED Cait’s famous FIST BUMP PHOTO (02.04.17) where a fist that is too small to be Sam’s and which is missing some important markings was being touted by ES as being Sam’s fist. 

We DEBUNKED the claim that MacKenzie started to date Jon Fletcher because she went on a walk in the desert with him and they both posted about it on March 12 & 13, 2017. Jon was dating Shantel VanSanten at the time.

MACKENZIE & SAM IN SA PART I: There is strong evidence that MacKenzie was in SA with Sam in April and May 2017. (Sorry, there is no one debunking post for the ES claims about MacKenzie’s visit, so here are some separate posts that address the whole thing.) MacKenzie posted an IG Story from Heathrow airport indicating she is picking up an international connecting flight (04.13.17). She also followed an actress who works in SA whom she appears to have met on the plane (although the ES try to work this woman into a conspiracy).

MACKENZIE & SAM IN SA PART II: Sam posted a picture of himself on 04.15.17 from Stellenbosch that MacKenzie liked. She later posts a picture from Stellenbosch (04.16.17).  Nic Rasenti, an Outlander actor and trainer at Sam’s gym who organized Sam’s birthday party, liked a collage of Sam and MacKenzie that was posted on IG on 04.18.17. 

MACKENZIE & SAM IN SA PART III: There is some confusion about whether MacKenzie went back to LA on Sam’s birthday because her friend Paydin posted a photo of MacKenzie on the Nagin IG on 04.26.17 saying they were planning a photoshoot “next week.” (In a recent post the ES claim she wrote “later this week” and changed it but that was incorrect, it was “next week.” The caption was changed to “we’re planning a shoot very soon.”) The photo posted on the Nagini IG on 04.26.17 and the IG story on 04.30.17 turned out to be an old photoshoot from Sept. 2016.

MACKENZIE & SAM IN SA PART IV: MacKenzie posted a number of photos from South Africa including one that suggests she was still there on Sam’s birthday (April/ May 2017). It appears that MacKenzie was at the birthday party on 04.30.17. A chef who apparently cooked part of Sam’s birthday party celebration (on his actual birthday) tweeted Sam and MacKenzie on 05.05.17 to ask if they liked the “toasties” that he prepared for the celebration. (This was further clarified through other tweets.)

MACKENZIE & SAM IN SA PART V: Further proof that MacKenzie was with Sam on his birthday comes from a fan who took a photo (posted 04.30.17) with Sam in SA on his birthday wrote on Sam’s 07.30.17 IG post: “I met both Sam and Mackenzie - @mackenziemauzy was just absolutely lovely, so friendly, kind and beautiful beyond words. They looked genuinely happy together, and even if I hadn’t known who they both were, I would’ve thought they were genuinely in love and quite besotted with each other. I’ve seen them together with my own eyes, when they had no idea that anyone around them knew who they were and could see that this relationship has absolutely nothing to do with PR.” [emphasis added] 

MACKENZIE & SAM IN SA PART VI: Cait posts a belated birthday celebratory picture of herself, some crew members and Sam and MacKenzie where it is clear that MacKenzie and Sam are a couple. Sam “likes” the picture (05.02.17). We debunked the ES claim that MacKenzie was photoshopped into that picture. Finally, Nic Rasenti’s girlfriend Nicole (who probably met Sam and MacKenzie at the party) tweeted this on 05.04.17 (after probably seeing MacKenzie be attacked on IG): “have you ever read the comments on pictures of famous men's partners/spouses on SM!? wow. Just horrifying. women are so fucking mean.” [emphasis added]

At the end of July 2017 the ES claimed that Chris Albrecht went to college with MacKenzie’s father but IT WAS DISCOVERED that they went to different colleges and are 12 years apart in age.

We DEBUNKED the SamCait narrative that Cait was upset that Sam brought MacKenzie to the EW SDCC 2017 party. 

We DEBUNKED the ES claim that MacKenzie wasn’t on the helicopter on 07.30.17 with Sam in Budapest.

On 08.30.17, this POST debunked a shipper saying that Cait had admitted that she had said “Saaaaam” during a during a love scene in The Reckoning at the Highlanders 2 Outlander Fan Event. [Previously, in March 2016, his POST and this POST debunked the belief that Cait said “Saaaaam.” ]

We DEBUNKED the ES claim that Sam was never in SOUTHERN FRANCE with MacKenzie in mid-September 2017.  

We DEBUNKED the FAUXSAM with Cait at the 09.13.17 Delpozo NYFW show.

We debunked the claim that Sam was really with Cait on 09.23.17 at Newark airport. There was a photo of Sam with a fan and a tiny picture in the background of a woman with dark hair worn in a loose bun that certain fans were claiming was Cait. But you could not see her face and her hair did not look like any style that Cait typically wears. There was no selfie of the fan with Cait. In addition it appears that Cait was in England on 09.19.17 (based on the tenner tweet) and in Paris on 09.24.17 based on an IG Story. So why would Cait fly from NYC to England back to NYC and then to Paris in a little over a week’s time? It makes no sense.

We REBUTTED some of the “compelling evidence” of a major ES for the ship on 11.22.17 including personal variables, inconsistences in their behavior, times when they are on social media around the same time, time spent together, and “fluidity and synchronicity in language and nonverbals.”

We REBUTTED the rumor that MacKenzie was dating Jimmy Graham from late fall to early winter 2017/ 2018. 

2018

On 01.07.18 People Magazine confirmed in an exclusive announcement (complete with a quote from Cait) that Cait and Tony had gotten engaged “over the break.”

Cait’s mother confirmed in a Northern Sound radio interview on 01.08.18 that Cait got engaged to Tony on Dec. 28, 2017. “She got engaged on the 28th I think it was. Eh, Tony actually rang us (chuckles) the night before. Eh, I had been wondering, you know, coming up to Christmas would be a possibility but he waited until after Christmas and they were in Australia for Christmas and he proposed to her there. So we’re thrilled for her. It could either be um a little quiet one somewhere but I don’t know what the plans are. We haven’t talked about it yet. I’m dying for the chat about it all when she does get back to Scotland.”

We DEBUNKED the claims that MacKenzie was in Scotland with family for a beer trade event or that it was a setup that a photo was taken of the two of them waiting for a taxi on 01.27.18 outside the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow. We also debunked the ES claim that MacKenzie was photoshopped into that picture.

Here is a logical explanation for apartment-gate and kitchen-gate. Sam had stated in at least one interview that he bought a house outside of Glasgow. So it is possible that when Cait’s place was put on the public market, Sam didn’t initially think of buying it. But maybe he gave up his flat in the city and the more he commuted the more the found it inconvenient and finally he decided to buy it. it’s also possible that Sam just loved that apartment and so he bought it. (My parents’ neighbors loved their house and bought it when it was up for sale--so it happens.) BTW, there’s no way that anyone outside of this fandom would have ever thought that people could figure out that Sam had bought Cait’s place based on the two photos he posted. It was because fans blew up small parts of the photos and cyberstalked to match them to Cait’s apartment and location that anyone figured it out. So Sam didn’t buy an apartment just to “lead” fans to believe he was living with Cait.🙄  (ADDENDUM: Please note that a few months after all of this, certain ES did claim that they knew that Sam had bought Cait’s old apartment--but they also knew that Cait had already moved in November 2017 to her new apartment.)

This POST explains how the phenomenon of pareidolia explains how certain ES believe they heard Cait say that she and Sam lived together when she was talking to Karen Gillan at the Roland Mouret Fashion Show on 02.18.18 and nonshippers heard them talking about “touring” and some people didn’t hear anything discernible at all.

This post DEBUNKS the belief that Sam and MacKenzie’s photo at the Jimmy Kimmel Oscar afterparty on 03.04.18 was photoshopped.

This post DEBUNKS the interpretation that Sam did a “reveal” of his relationship with Cait at the LA Times interview on 03.19.18 with his “we’re together” comment.

Sam’s hand placement on Cait’s red dress at the STARZ’s Outlander FYC Event at Linwood Dunn Theater on 03.18.18 was put in perspective by this POST.

This post DEBUNKS an ES fuzzy gif that seemed to show Sam grabbing Cait’s butt at the BAFTA TV Awards on 05.13.18. This whole episode was also put into perspective in this POST.

This post DEBUNKS all the rumors that MacKenzie was trolling the fandom and posting fake “innuendo” during the past couple of years.

2019-2020

April 19 - April 21, 2019: We debunked the ES “coffee stalker” claims that Sam and Cait spent Easter weekend together (April 19th through 21st). See POST1, POST2, POST3, (BTW, a former shipper commented in a post that Sam’s apartment was being renovated at the timing that the “coffee stalker” took her photos. See POST.) This is also a debunk that Tony was manipulated into a photo of Sam with Cait at the airport that weekend (see POST).

May 17, 2019: We debunked the ES claim that the photo of Cait and Tony in Somerset on May 17th was staged (see POST1, POST2).

June 17, 2019: We debunked one of the many SC “secret child” claims (see POST).

Aug. 17, 2019: We debunked the claim that the cozy photo of Hannah and Sam hanging with Outlander crew in Scotland was only due to the filming of Geneva flashbacks for season 5. This POST also provides a lot of information that supports the possibility that Sam and Hannah had some sort of a relationship.

CAIT AND TONY’S MARRIAGE: We debunked the claim that Cait and Tony weren’t married on August 10, 2019 in a series of posts. 

Aug. 10-12, 2019: This POST shows evidence from family, friends, the church, and the florist that the wedding occurred on August 10, 2019.

Aug. 10 & 15, 2019: POST1, POST2, and POST3 discuss how Cait and Tony were married in a Roman Catholic ceremony and they reference the 08.15.19 People and Town & Country articles about the wedding. ;

Aug. 15, 2019: This POST is about Diana Gabaldon’s 08.15.19 Facebook congratulations to Cait and Tony on their marriage and this POST is Diana’s confirmation that she had spoken to Cait directly that morning about the wedding.

Sept. 8 & 9, 2019: This POST shows photos of Cait and Tony wearing their wedding rings at various TIFF events including the Chanel & Variety Female Filmmaker Dinner, an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, and the the Ford v Ferrari premiere.

The wedding planner. This POST discusses how Cait had apparently been planning her wedding at least as far back as 10.12.18 (based on something on the wedding planner’s IG page). This POST provided confirmation from the wedding planner in Bridebook and Nearly Weds that she had in fact planned Cait and Tony’s wedding.

Nov. 3, 2019: This POST discusses how Cait’s wearing her wedding ring set at the BAFTA Scotland Awards is literally symbolic of her wearing her vows on her left ring finger. Tony was also filmed with her at the awards.

Nov. 4, 2019: In the Is it just me? podcast with Jo Elvin and James Williams, Cait refers to her “husband” twice and mentions that she got engaged in Australia (see POST).

Nov. 20, 2019: This POST discusses a tweet by Cait during a Q & A where she acknowledges that she got married in response to a question that mentions Tony.

Jan. 21 & Feb. 2, 2020: Here are two interviews where Cait acknowledges she recently got married during filming: Interview 1 (dated 01.21.20--translated in this POST) was with Margaret Gardiner for rooi rose and Interview 2 (dated 02.02.20) was with Ruben V. Nepales for inquirer.net. In both articles, Cait made it clear that her husband was someone who wasn’t Sam.

Feb. 10, 2020: This POST shows Cait posing with Tony on 02.10.20 on the red carpet of the Oscars. This is a typical way celebrities acknowledge their spouses or serious romantic relationships

Feb. 15, 2020: Theresa Corigliano discusses in Check Your Local Listings how Cait indicated that her husband “manages bands”--a direct reference to Tony (who manages The Fratellis--see POST).

March 20, 2020: Cait tweeted that her “hubby made  [the] pasta” that was seen in her bowl during the IG Live Q & A on March 19th.

April 2, 2020: Cait finally mentions Tony’s name in an anecdote while being interviewed by Lauren Lyle. (For a transcript of what Cait said, see this POST.)

April 24, 2020: In a Reserved Magazine IG Live interview Cait mentions (about 9:57 into the video) how when fans “attack” her “husband” she gets “super hurt.”

2021

April 2021: Several fans ordered public records of C & T’s marriage certificate and posted it. It is real. The ES tried to prove it was false. Their claims were debunked.  After a while some of them came around to believing it was real but they still thought the marriage was in name only (although they keep ignoring the fact that C & T were married in a RC ceremony--people don’t have “fake marriages” that are blessed by the church). 

August 18, 2021 Cait announced the birth of her first child (and of course it was with Tony, as was made clear by her friends and colleagues who congratulated both of them). We also debunked some of their attempts to prove that it was S’s fingers in the photo of the baby (which some are using to claim that S is the “real” father. 🤦‍♀️ ) Finally, we debunked the claims that C & T could not produce a blonde baby.

August 2021: We debunked the email that an ES leader was using to claim that C & T were divorcing.

November 16, 2021: Marc Myers in an interview with Cait for The Wall Street Journal Quotes Cait as saying: “Today, my husband, Tony, and I and our son are slightly nomadic. We split our time between Glasgow and London. When I’m working on ‘Outlander,’ we’re in Glasgow.” [emphasis added] We also debunked the punctuation misinterpretation of the ES regarding this quote.

2022-2023

August 2022 to present: Extreme shippers blew up video of the funeral mass for C’s father and mistook C’s older brother for S and thought that a woman who vaguely had S’s mother’s hair was there. They also later claimed that a photo published in local papers of C, T, & their baby was somehow photoshopped. Over the past couple of years, we have debunked these outrageous claims. (See POST 1, POST 2, POST 3) 

May 15 2023: We debunked the claim that the “boy on the horse” was one of C & C’s “secret boos.”

June 14, 2023: Another debunk of the “multiple boo” theory.

Unfortunately, the hardcore ES are now full tinhatters and don’t seem to ever want to give up the ship. 

Sadly, the fans who follow the hardcore ES blogs so want to believe in the ship that they never bother to check what their leaders claim. That’s unfortunate. Because wittingly or unwittingly their leaders spread a lot of misinformation about Sam, Cait and their SOs.
