What is your opinion on commemorative tattoos?

I think its nice that people want do something so permanent to remember someone by, I also think its quite a radical thing to do. But people change, and memory changes, something that is important to them in the moment doesn’t always last, so its quite a radical thing to do.

Do you see inscribing a memory on body as a healing process?

If you mean in terms of death of a loved one or something along those line then maybe, there are 7 stages of grievance: shock, denial, guilt, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. I think it could come into maybe guilt, where a person feels like that loved one deserved something to be remembered by, as if you might forget them?

Have you ever disagreed with a reason for getting a particular tattoo?

I think there are a lot of silly reasons to get them, but I’m not one to talk! 

If you’re wanting to talk about tattoos associated with memory, the ironic thing is that they all are associated with memory in the end. The ink wont let you forget the moment you had it done because its always there!

People don’t always get tattoos to remember something, sometimes people get them to create a memory in itself

Do the tattooed talk in depth about their reasoning for said tattoos? 

Most people I tattoo are friends or recommended by friends so I am still yet to tattoo a complete stranger, but people I met have often been quite open about their reasoning
