Day 5, part 7.
Sam and Sophieâs date, part 4.
Sophie: So, tell me, whatâs on your mind? I mean we both know WHO is on your mind....
Sam: Weâre eating now....
Sophie: I can do two things at the same time, Sam.
Sam: ....
Sophie: Please, speak up....
Sam: But we are on a date, it wouldnât be appropriate.
Sophie: It isnât appropriate either to disrespect a lady *she snorted*
Look, I find you charming, and extremely handsome, and as much as I enjoy your company, and find you an interesting person, I just donât have any feelings involved, this is a meal, a very good one, but I donât see sparks fly between us any day soon, and we both have reasons for that.
So how about we be friends instead, even if that suggestion might send me home at the first elimination-
Sam: Not if I have anything to say.
I have more in common with you than any of the other girls....
Sophie: Great.
So friends.
Now, spit it out!
Sam: Right, okay.... itâs just that I am very stuck between doing the right thing, for me, and the right thing for everyone else....
Sophie: So I have noticed...
Sam: A part of me tells me I should just call it quit on the bc, tell Adrian how I feel once and for all, and if he still wont accept, then thatâs it, Iâll walk away for good.
But on the other hand, I canât do that to the people who took time out of their lives, to come meet me, and try their luck at âthe bachelorâ.
I signed up for this, and I constantly have this voice at the back of my mind, telling me I have to go through with it, cause I owe it to the people signing up for this....
Sophie: Question is, do you want your life to be about whatâs best for you, or whatâs best for everyone else around you?
Sam: *He sighed deep* I want people around me to be happy, I very much care about other peopleâs feelings....
Sophie: Right, but it doesnât mean it has to be at the complete cost of yourself, Sam.
There has to be something for you too.
Sam: Iâm happy when everyone else is happy....
Sophie: Are you really?
Look *she smiled soft* you might be right, but I still think you pay very expensive for other peopleâs happiness.
You need to put yourself first sometimes.
Sophie: Itâs something you have to figure out on your own, in your own time, but unfortunately I think, in the long run, you will end up more miserable than happy, if you keep putting everyone else first, and always end up doing âwhat is rightâ.
Sophie: Itâs okay to break a promise here and there, Sam.
We canât always stick to the plan, no matter how well our intentions might be.
Things change.
Feelings change.
Circumstances change.
Life changes.
Sophie: A lot of things can get in the way, or we simply have a change of heart.
And then itâs up to us to swallow it and try to get the best out of the circumstance we are in, or do whatâs best for our souls in the long run, and simply speak up, and letting them know, this isnât working out.
I shouldnât have made a promise I couldnât keep.
Iâm sorry, but this isnât for me. Â
Sam: Oh no... no no no!
I canât possibly do that, Sophie!
