Thanks for making that post. I've been in various fandoms for a long time, and while I love BTS and some of the fan experience, a lot of it feels deeply unhealthy. What bothers me most of all, compared to other fandoms, is that there seems to be almost no room for nuanced discussion, for any 'negativity' aka not blindly supporting and adoring everything they do. And anyone who doesn't adore everything they do, from journalists to award shows to random people online, gets death threats. I wish it was all 15-year olds who don't know better, but what worries me is that these are grown up people who otherwise seem smart but get swept up in the insanity of this fandom so easily.

I wish there was room, somewhere, for nuanced discussion, to say that actually, what Cordon said wasn't that bad, BTS basically having to acknowledge it themselves to make people stop is worrying, maybe advertising a corporation like McDonalds isn't great, maybe the way people inflate streaming numbers and kept Butter on nr 1 for so long is ridiculous and should stop, etc. Let alone saying some songs or performances aren't that good, god forbid.

when I tell you that I’ve just lost a handful of followers after I shared my own opinions on my own blog under a cut so people can freely choose to read it or not, isn’t that a hilarious example for what you said? No room for other opinions, no room for criticism and discussion, you absolutely put it to the point. I think it’s a huge misconception of many to think you’re not allowed to be rational and critical with people you love and care for

Because you mentioned it earlier, I'm now also watching the 5 hour youtube video on the Chibnall era, lol. I'm in the same boat as you and was excited for it and Jodie but bailed after a few episodes and this video (so far, I'm only like...an hour in) makes me think there's probably a good reason for that. So thanks i guess?

I really don't think anyone but RTD can make the show I liked but I just keep trying anyway anytime another showrunner or Doctor starts. It's the weird nostalgia of it all I guess.

Yeah I feel basically the same, re: RTD. The concept of Doctor Who is appealing and maybe there'll be some other eras I can enjoy -- I mean, there are eps of the Moffat era I DID like, I got a kick out of the TV movie with Eight, etc -- but I'm no longer expecting anything to resonate with me the way RTD's stuff did. I'm over it at this point, like, it's fine, Doctor Who for me is always going to be specifically Doctor Who (2005-2009), it is what it is, I'm not bitter* or anything anymore but I also just ... can't seem to get into anyone else's vision for the show. I'm sure if they replace Chibnall (I would... not be super shocked if the show got "retired" instead) I'll give the new person and Doctor a shot but most likely I'll also just not vibe with it too much. Oh well! *mostly... 50th anniversary do not interact

Hi, I'm sad you're ending this but thanks for all those years! I was wondering if, now you're stopping, you know of any other blogs or sites or users that do regular fic recs? I saw today that there's a Tumblr called weeklydeancasrecs but they haven't posted a lot so do you know of others?

I. General Resources

First of all, check out this post we made way back in 2013. It lists a bunch of destiel fic rec blogs. A good deal of them are no longer active, but you can search their archives.

Another place to look for destiel fic recs are tumblr global tags. Try #destiel fic rec tag and #destielfanficnet tag. This is also reminder to folks who make their own fic rec posts to use these tags among first five tags so your posts get noticed.

II. Recent fic rec blogs and rec lists (As of January 26, 2018)

Here’s a brand new destiel fic rec blog deancasfix which is run by two destiel fic writers superhoney aka @pomegranatedaffodil and teacass (Fushigi) aka @teacass. It looks that they’re posting twice a week, an old fic and a recent fic review.

Weeklydeancasrecs blog you mentioned. It looks they posted recently so let’s hope there’s more recs to come!

Our friend Elena aka fanartist @purgatory-jar has started a daily fic rec feature Fic For Tonight. Check out the masterpost and the first fic rec!

Our friend and guest reviewer, destiel writer Annie D (scaramouche) aka @no-gorms has a fic rec tag of her own, take a look here!

Destiel fic writer quiettewandering aka@wanderingcas, last summer organized a fic self rec event, SPN Fanfic Submission Thursday. Check out the Master List!

The idea of self rec fic rec list was picked up by other destiel fic writer, HollyBlue2 aka @envydean and a very special envydean’s Destiel Trope Collection was born. Check out their Master List with 30 tropes rec lists! And apparently there’s also a blog @destieltropecollection!

Couple of month ago we lost a beloved fic rec list blog, destielmybeatingheart. Fortunately, @jojodacrow have rescued most of their fic rec lists and they are now reblogged on her blog and tagged with #destielmybeatingheart hashtag. (I’m sorry I can’t get the link, tumblr doesn’t let me open the blog)

Also, quite a few writers will regularly post updates on their recent fics or reblog fic recs, so be sure to keep an eye on your favorite writers tumblr blog.

We invite our followers to reblog this post and add their favorite active destiel fic rec blogs, fic rec tags, or thematic fic rec lists. Let’s share some love for fics reccers!!

III. Rules of the road

DFF mods would greatly appreciate if the blogs promoted via this post would follow simple fic reccing courtesy rules

Always credit the fic author next to the fic title. Other fic stats are also greatly appreciated (word count, ratings, possible triggers) and may reduce unnecessary hits on the fic link

Please don’t rate fics with numbers or letters! Trust us on this, just don’t.

Please don’t talk shit about fics if you didn’t like them! This shouldn’t even be a point, but we’ve seen fic rec posts with pretty dismissive comments about fics they rec. If you don’t like, don’t post.

These are just guidelines and they are constantly evolving to meet fandom needs and trends!

12. if you could change one ending to a book/show/game/etc, what would you change about it?

Hahaha, WAREHOUSE 13. A show I dearly, dearly loved, but then abandoned wholesale because I hated what the ending did with HG and with Pete/Myka so much. I would give us the HG/Myka ending we deserved, or honestly, an ending that did not pair Myka up with anyone would have also been fine. I loved Pete and Myka’s friendship a lot, and hated what making it into a romantic ship did for both of them.

19. if you could be a part of any story, which story would you want to tag along in?

Oh shit, I have no idea. Mostly I feel like I would probably not do terribly well in any particular fantasy setting. I do not have the skills. ;D But I guess if I could pick a class and develop the skills, jumping into either CritRole campaign as a side character might be a really good time.

🤷 What thing that your fandom loves do you just not “get”?

so many fandoms! I’ll go with the R1 right now, but people do love their modern AUs. I have so much trouble seeing jyn and cassian out of context because I think who they are is tied so tightly so their experiences in canon.
